Greetings!
It's a quiet week for events. Last week's National Coworking Day had a very boisterous Happy Hour, with a special contribution by Caroline of two bottles of "shrub," a drinking vinegar (!). The first two Advertising on a Small Budget workshops have been packed, and I loved the 'before and after' makeover of an existing ad. The first anniversary celebration for OfficeXpats in September is begging to be tied down, but we are waiting on a commitment before announcing it.
Our first-ever "second-annual celebration" of anything was Coworking Day on August 9
Does that mean the one-year anniversary happened already? Glad you asked. Last year at this time, the OfficeXpats space was still under construction, but we wanted to acknowledge the anniversary of coworking. So we swept up the sawdust, turned on the Wi-Fi, and opened our doors temporarily for a free coworking day, complete with a free lunch barbecue, which has now become a bit of a tradition. Then we opened on August 22 to test our systems, with free coworking for all, even as carpet was still being installed in the conference rooms. Later that week on Friday we hosted Green Drinks and really filled the place up for the first time. Finally, we had our first day of business (when memberships officially kicked in) on September 1, 2011. So our REAL

OfficeXpats Anniversary to celebrate "offspring" orgs

As we started brainstorming how to celebrate the first anniversary, we listed the organizations and groups that have 'sprung up' in the past year, and it's a sizable list! We are inviting each group to join the planning for our celebration. (Did we forget to mention any?)
Ideas born at OfficeXpats: Ignite Bainbridge, Agate Pass Exchange, Accelerate Kitsap (a new business incubator), SPELL (a writers group), It's About Health (weight loss support), and First Wednesday Networking.
We have hosted or currently host the communities West Sound Time Bank, Bainbridge Business Connections, and Africa Round Table.
Member groups: Monday Morning Check-in, Tuesdays @noon business skills workshops, and Thursday afternoon Happy Hour.

National Night Out slide show from Bainbridge Review
We didn't manage to grab great pictures of the National Night Out on Bainbridge, but the Bainbridge Review did! Thought you might want to check out the Review's slide show. It was a fun evening despite the gray skies, and Mora's ice cream was everywhere!
