Bainbridge Island at work... together!                                                            June 27, 2012

Greetings!

Sometimes we just get so lucky. Amazing people reach out and ask what they can do to help get our fledgling business on its feet. Steve Wilson is one of these, and Tuesday workshops in July will be an amazing opportunity to meet a master of storytelling through photography. In other news, Jason scored a flatbed trailer from Mike Hale (Hale's Ales) as our Grand Old Fourth float, and he's looking for Xpat volunteers to ride on it!

Tuesdays at noon in July feature photography -- yours and Steve Wilson's! Starts next Tuesday, July 3.

Ever wonder what makes a photo great, or worthy of a cover on National Geographic? Wish you could confidently choose the most effective photos for your business or venture? When is a professional photo a good investment?

Learn how to read a photo, understand how photos work in your story, and how each one helps (or hurts) in conveying your message. Acclaimed National Geographic photojournalist Steve Wilson is leading four 90-minute discussion-with-show-and-tell workshops in July on the power of photography to tell stories. Steve says "I try to use my craft as a way of speaking truth to power," claiming that the authenticity and persuasion of his art is often more effective than direct challenges. Read more and sign up soon. We expect a good crowd for this series, and space is limited.

Who We Are

Preparations to Party on the Grand Old Fourth

Jason at OfficeXpats booth
Last year's 4th of July booth, before we opened!

T-shirts with a super-secret and very cool design by Artopia Creative are on their way to clothe volunteers at the booth and on the float, so call us, text us, or come to Happy Hour on Thursday and sign up to join the fun. We have a flatbed trailer compliments of Mike Hale (Hale's Ales), and Jason is busy printing out pictures of members to hang on it (tell us if you DON'T want your picture or profile info promoted). Come learn his grand plan and add your ideas!

Premiere Issue of Bainbridge Island Magazine Arrives!

Bainbridge Island Magazine rolled off the presses and was in our mailbox when we arrived home today! As it will in every mailbox of every home and business in 98110. We're very proud that this is a project we've watched progress from concept to reality in our coworking space. Check out the Facebook page too. Congratulations, Xpat Michael Cyger!

Bainbridge Island Magazine will be delivered quarterly for free to every household and business on Bainbridge Island, with additional distribution through the Chamber, participating stores, subscriptions, real estate brokers, visitors bureaus and events.

Great photography and editorial craftsmanship. Enjoy!

Workshop Theme for August: Save the Dates!

Tuesdays in August: Advertising 101 for budgets of $50-$500/month. We've assembed a panel of experts to explain the latest trends and technologies in advertising, and to help you create a strategy that takes advantage of it all. You'll learn how to design your ad and target your audience in ways you never could before. We'll break down the best bang for your online ad buck by comparing cost per click vs. cost per impression. You'll learn about directory listings and ad packages. And yes, there are still great reasons to run print advertising too. Stay tuned... more to come.
