What will you accomplish during Think Week?
Greetings!
Have you thought about what it would be like as a full-timer at OfficeXpats? Coffee and the morning paper every day, friendly faces that let you get your work done in peace, a tech guy to help you out in a pinch, getting to know other Bainbridge professionals...
Our gift to you: you can make us your workplace 'home' for a whole week for free. December 26-30 is "Think Week," and OfficeXpats will be open and free to the Bainbridge community all week 8:30-5:30. With free coffee and maybe some other holiday-style drinks. We'd like to get the word out to potential Think Week beneficiaries (commuters who aren't commuting this week, anyone needing escape from kids and guests home for the holidays, etc.) and we'd love to hear what you might accomplish (getting around to 2012 planning, writing that novel, or... NO NOT THAT... catching up with e-mail). If there's a desire for it, we can also plan some kid movies or Kinectimals sessions for your children in the event room while you are being productive. Please pass it on!

By the way, Tammy and Joe Deets of Community Energy Solutions have signed up as full time members. Hooray! Yes, they are splitting a membership; you can do that too with any level. Full time members also get use of a locking file cabinet. AND we are offering the first 10 full time members a choice of up to two hours of computer tech support OR newsletter set-up (provided by your appreciative hosts Jason or Leslie, of course). All this and free coffee too, for less than $14/day with our discounts good through January. But for one whole week in December, it's FREE! |

12/13 Business Brown Bag: "Back of the Napkin"
 | Solving problems with pictures |
Dan Roam wrote a little book with a big idea, that we remember what is said if we see a picture of it, and the chances are not so good if there is no picture. Then he shows us how to draw pictures to express ideas even if we are not good at drawing. Bill Ruddick, a regular at Bainbridge Business Connections, took this book to heart and has been working with these concepts for the past six months or so. In a two-part brown bag he will share what he has learned and we will do a mini-workshop to practice. If you want a sneak peek, take a look at Dan Roam's "lost chapter" from The Back of the Napkin, and the following week Bill will give us the highlights from Dan's latest book Blah Blah Blah. (Martha's Quickbooks brown bag will be rescheduled.) |
Tues 12/13: "Play Store" with Complimentary Currency
When was the last time you went to an event thinking that you really didn't know what you were getting in to, and then you went anyway and it opened up something new in your life? This is one of those. Yes, we're calling it a holiday gift bazaar with a twist, but it's really a disguised challenge to your relationship with money. And economics.
The setup: bring one or more 'giftable' items to 'sell' for Life Dollars. We'll also gift you two Life Dollars (worth $20) from the Agate Pass Exchange account for you to purchase gifts. We will then 'play store' while learning about an alternative currency system used by Agate Pass Exchange, and you may walk away with some real treasures for no cash. Giftables could include crafts you've made, interesting glass work, cool books, food items such as homemade jams, fermented preserves, homemade wine, etc., or gift certificates, e.g. "good for 1 hr of winter mulching". Gift certificate blanks will also be provided.
Please RSVP by posting on the Agate Pass Exchange Facebook page or call OfficeXpats. Kids are welcome, but let us know how many and what aged kids you'll bring. |
