Social media marketing expert offers free book download

Last Thursday I attended a social media conference at Islandwood co-sponsored by the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce. The interim director of the Chamber, Frank Kenny, was a featured speaker and is an author and consultant focused on helping small business -- and organizations like the chambers of commerce that serve them -- to use social media. Both his session and the following session given by Constant Contact were excellent and well worth my morning. I've got more than a couple pages of notes that I think would be fun to share with a group that wants to dive deeper into social media, but in the meantime, here's a link to a FREE download of Frank's book The 7 Secret Laws of Society.

One bit of trivia I learned from Frank is that YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world! When Frank was at OfficeXpats to do the Skype interviews for a new Chamber CEO, he took a few minutes to shoot a quick video tour of OfficeXpats. It's all in one take! While we should edit this down some, good production value shouldn't be an excuse for not getting something "up there" that tells a good story. Have a look and see what you think! Member Spotlight: Dave Kragen, writer, author, copy editor

Dave Kragen has been an Xpat since October, but he's been a big supporter all along as the chair for the Bainbridge Business Connections (BBC) roundtable group that meets on Friday mornings.
A writer by craft, he knows how to convey your value with clean, sparkling copy, which is often the first impression you make on prospective clientele. "Every company needs the copy editor, the wordsmith. That's me! I supply the polish and clarity of communication needed to grab your client from the very first line."
If you were wondering what Dave does in his spare time, he recently finished his seventh novel, the third in the series of The KillWare Chronicles, called The Accidental Prisoner, and eighth novel, third in the series of The Creature Chronicles, called Space Leviathan. His fourth novel, Plagueman, is available for sale online as well as from your local bookstore. The Accidental Prisoner should be out in bookstores sometime in the winter of 2011-2012.

How many days each month would you use OfficeXpats? A 'day' might be eight hours or more of getting work done in a productive, professional, and socially supportive environment. Or using a reserved conference room to host 6 people for a 2-hr meeting. Or both! You could even invite additional meeting attendees to join by Skype video conference.

- Full time $320 (only $272 with 15% discount through Jan 2012)
- add unlimited after hours/weekend access to any level $75/month
- add a Pavilion gym membership to any level for just $20/month

Who We Are |
OfficeXpats on Bainbridge Island is a workplace solution beyond commuting to the corporate office or working from home.
Coworking is about making the personal choice to work alongside other people instead of in isolation. We offer a shared "community" office for remote workers, independent consultants, entrepreneurs, and small businesses.
