He may look scary, but Jason the IT guy is on your team!

One benefit of being a member at OfficeXpats is that you almost always have access to an IT guy. In a world dependent on connectivity with Wi-Fi, printers, or a video projector, it's nice to know you aren't alone in the wilderness. Xpats co-founder Jason has spent most of his professional life managing networks, setting up servers, and optimizing client machines (e.g. your laptop). He can be your best friend in a pinch, like when your printer spooler service won't start, and he's even been known to recommend a new laptop purchase from his favorite bargain tech site. We don't claim that nothing ever goes wrong, but we have quite a few safeguards in place--including redundant Wi-Fi services to keep you up and running--and nothing goes wrong for very long.

 

Recently the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce used OfficeXpats for Skype videoconference interviews of new Executive Director candidates. According to the interim director Frank Kenny, the interviews went extremely well and the technology worked smoothly. If you think your business could benefit from some electronic face-to-face, ask Jason to help you set it up for a test run, then add it to your professional bag of tricks!

Business Brown Bag: Local Community Currency

Agate Pass Exchange is a local community using "Life Dollars"
Want a new way to attract customers and gain community currency at the same time? Our topic this week is about a new community currency system for North Kitsap. The new Agate Pass Exchange can help us all match needs with resources to create abundance in our local economy, even in these challenging economic times. This meeting and discussion is both an orientation to the online exchange system used by Agate Pass Exchange and it's an opportunity to see what other attendees might have to exchange with you!

OfficeXpats is participating in Agate Pass Exchange and is offering event space rentals for 'Life Dollars' as our initial experiment in this new system. What do you want to offer?

Upcoming Business Brown Bags will include Videography for Digital Marketing, The Best Free Resources for Small Businesses, and Automating Your Bookkeeping Using Quickbooks.

Thanksgiving Hours

We will be CLOSED for Thanksgiving and the Friday following. Jason and Leslie will not be in town Tuesday and Wednesday of next week either, but the office will be open with friendly support from a couple of members, Ann and Deanna. Jason will be available by phone 8:30-5:30 on those days as well. Ideally, you won't plan a last-minute video conference unless you are sure you won't need help, and please don't drink the beer while we're gone (except for Eric; you may have ONE).

How many days each month would you use OfficeXpats? 
A 'day' might be eight hours or more of getting work done in a productive, professional, and socially supportive environment. Or using a reserved conference room to host 6 people for a 2-hr meeting. Or both! You could even invite additional meeting attendees to join by Skype video conference.  
 
  • 3 days/month (Basic)  $69
  • 5 days/month  $105
  • 10 days/month  $180
  • 15 days/month  $250
  • Full time  $320 (15% discount for remainder of 2011)
  • add unlimited after hours/weekend access to any level  $75
  • add a Pavilion gym membership to any level  $20

Note that memberships are limited to staffed business hours (8:30-5:30pm). Add after hours/weekends for $75/month.

Who We Are

OfficeXpats on Bainbridge Island is a workplace solution beyond commuting to the corporate office or working from home.

 

Coworking is about making the personal choice to work alongside other people instead of in isolation. We offer a shared "community" office for remote workers, independent consultants, entrepreneurs, and small businesses.

 

OfficeXpats is located in the Pavilion on Madison, just a 10-minute walk from the ferry terminal. We hope to help you in your quest for 'new ways to work.'
