A coworking community and events center on Bainbridge Island October 31, 2011 |

Happy Halloween!
Greetings!
 | Have some 'Sushi'! |
Wow, where did October go? In honor of our first Halloween, we've made some 'sushi' for your 'see food' diet. Haha. Any office is usually a dangerous place on this holiday, with bowls of candy and goodies impossible to ignore, and, well, we're no exception.
Stop by in costume, if you dare! We want pictures of your costumes even if you don't make it in to the office. Post them to our Facebook page... we may have some 'goodies' to give away if you do. |

Xpat Larry Tice delivers OfficeXpats ferry ad
| Larry Tice also created a ferry ad for Xpat member Go Solar Bainbridge |
When you are on the ferry next time, watch for our ad! The first person to post a good photo of it to our Facebook page gets a free 2-hr Flextime punch (a $10 value!). And the first to identify all the people shown in the 12-second video will also win (people walking far away in the background don't count). Larry captured some great ambience and hard workers in those few precious seconds.
Using video to market your products and services is critical these days. Also referred to as 'digital marketing,' short segments can show up on web sites, on YouTube, and in Facebook to name just a few. We are just getting started, but we also have an edited video by Larry that shows off the highlights of our Grand Opening! We will be posting that on our web site soon.
Larry has agreed to come talk to us about digital marketing at one of the new Tuesday Business Brown Bags (12-1:30). We'll be setting up a calendar of experts when we gather this week on Nov. 1, so keep an eye out for his presentation! Thanks, Larry, for showing us off. |
Xpat Alex Sanso designs new punch cards
We announced last week that OfficeXpats punch cards would be available soon. Now we have a name for these 2-hr drop-in stints: Flextime! Our in-house artist Alex Sanso has designed a cool card to be carried in a wallet and used in 2-hr increments to supplement your membership when you can't stay long, or by non-members who don't have a need for regular coworking days.
 | Thank you, Alex! |
Flextime cards are $60 for six 2-hr increments ($5/hr!), and you don't have to be a member to use them. Flextime is good for wifi, light printing, free coffee or tea, and even a current daily paper to browse! Grab a friend and play foosball, or grab a yoga mat and stretch a little. Note that Flextime cannot be used for reserving conference rooms and is not considered membership for promotional benefits.
Tell your friends they can drop in for some quiet time when the kids are off at soccer practice. Retirees who need to get out more now have a great place to go. And if your piece of the island has spotty wifi, come on over. YOU can get a free Flextime punch card if you refer a member to us, whether you are a member or not. |
Did your Internet go down last week?
Last Monday, ours did. Comcast was DOWN. Pavilion neighbors and others who live nearby mentioned it as well. Did it happen to you? When we called Comcast, we were informed that we could expect restored service in maybe two hours. Two hours? Really? Internet connectivity is the life blood of our business. So at OfficeXpats we have redundancy. Both Comcast and Century Link circuits come to our office, with hardware to support both working in tandem. If either one goes down, the other can take on the additional load. Internet access was promptly restored and we didn't have to wait two hours! On a side note, we have the fastest service available in our area from Century Link at 12mb and our Comcast service is 22mb. We also have wireless N spanning our office with sporadic hardwire ports available as well. If you ever have questions about our technology infrastructure, please don't hesitate to ask. |
Qigong sessions will close to new members soon
We've got a good group of people for QiGong, so both classes (see schedule below) are a 'go.' If you want to join, don't wait; CarolAnn will close the classes soon so that we can move forward with our skills. CarolAnn is a Level II Certified Qigong Instructor, and has been teaching since 2003. Although the non-strenuous movements resemble those of T'ai Chi, Qigong consists of shorter sequences which are easy to learn and practice. You will leave class feeling calm, balanced and invigorated! No special clothing needed. Contact CarolAnn for more information( carolannbarrows@gmail.com). |
