On Wednesday evening OfficeXpats sponsors the New Course fundraiser, with wine and cheese in OfficeXpats and a screening of the new Sarah Jessica Parker film, I Don't Know How She Does It, downstairs in the large cinema.
This week also features another webinar screening on time banking, hosted by Sustainable Business Network in a series of community answers to a troubled economy (Thurs 11am).
Finally, OfficeXpats is sponsoring the Jazz Canvas performance Friday at the BPA. We've personally attended quite a few of these performances in the past year (and they do tend to sell out!). The combination of watching a painting emerge while listening to inspiring jazz music is unforgettable. It's a new way to listen.

The Sustainable Business Network (SBN) of Bainbridge is hosting a live, interactive webinar "Starting a Time Bank." This the first of a new monthly Time Banks USA Webinar Series. Participants get an overview for how to start a new time bank; including highlights and strategies from existing timebanks; and can participate in group Q&A. The Grand Opening last Thursday evening was wonderful in many ways. But one phrase was heard and then heard again and again as it buzzed around the room. We asked Leif Utne, our official Xpat #1, to speak for our membership in an informal program of recognitions, and he illuminated coworking both as a worldwide trend and as he has experienced it professionally outside of Bainbridge Island.
Turns out that the company he works for, Zanby, has its international headquarters in CoCo, a 'coworking and collaboration center' in Chicago. He said that coworking has been described as "accelerated serendipity" for those who choose to work outside the box of traditional business environments. Now who wouldn't want some of that? I personally witnessed it happening just last week between two members who are now working on a project together. Thank you, Leif, and we look forward to the acceleration you offer us as we get to know more about the industry we are in. |

How many days each month would you use OfficeXpats? A 'day' might be eight hours or more of getting work done in a productive, professional, and socially supportive environment. Or using a reserved conference room to host 6 people for a 2-hr meeting. Or both! You could even invite additional meeting attendees to join by Skype video conference. Don't forget, we're exploring 'new ways to work.'

OfficeXpats on Bainbridge Island is a workplace solution beyond commuting to the corporate office or working from home.
Coworking is about making the personal choice to work alongside other people instead of in isolation. We offer a shared office environment that meets the conferencing and community needs of remote workers, independent consultants, entrepreneurs, and small businesses.
OfficeXpats is located in the Pavilion on Madison, just a 10-minute walk from the ferry terminal. We hope to help you in your quest for 'new ways to work.'
