And speaking of parties, Friday night's Green Drinks event at OfficeXpats had a great turnout! It was fun to see how a big group of people use the space, (and we heard lots of comments on features like our new nap room!). Yummy food was donated by Pavilion restaurants Subi, Casa Rojas, and Spice Route, and we fired up the grill on the deck to add a bit of sweetness with Theo's chocolate buried in s'mores. A perfect summer night.

Our Green Drinks special, a Basic membership at 50% off, is extended a few days and available online now through the end of August.

Our Grand Opening will have the same festive feel, with some good story-telling and vision spinning thrown in. Don't miss it!

Steve Wilson's Nature Photographs Add Depth and Sparkle to our Space

What does it take to create a photography show?
Ann Wilson, our interior designer, has brought a beautiful show of northwest nature photographs by award-winning photojournalist Steve Wilson (no relation) to OfficeXpats. Meticulously hanging the show took two people the better part of two days, completing just a few hours before the first cork was popped at Green Drinks.

We get to enjoy and marvel at his images, created with real film (no digital anything), for the next three months, and if we're lucky, this show may be followed by his "life of a tree" show. Some of the images look abstract, and a couple of them look more like exotic batik fabric than the beetle-chewed bark that they are. You can browse through a book of his photography to see images from beyond the Northwest as well. What an honor to have Steve's work here! Tell your friends to visit us during the First Friday art walk, even though we are not officially on this month's program.

Working On the Road

 
Leslie Schneider, co-founder of OfficeXpats, abandoned partner Jason for six weeks this summer to fulfill a dream of traveling across the country with her son in a camper van. 10,000 miles and many adventures later, the trip is now just memories and stories to tell.

But critical to Leslie's ability to make this trip was being able to keep her work contracts going. It was an always-evolving strategy of finding wifi hot spots at coffee shops, campgrounds, friend's homes, and motels. One of these days, we believe coworking sites will be readily available in most cities and towns, and membership in one will be honored in all. The Coworking Visa is a concept that exists already, and if you are traveling, you may be able to leverage your OfficeXpats membership around the world. Let us know if you want to try it out, and we'll help with the research.

How many days each month would you use OfficeXpats? 
A 'day' might be eight hours or more* of getting work done in a productive, professional, and socially supportive environment. Or using a reserved conference room to host 6 people for a 2-hr meeting. Or both! You could even invite additional meeting attendees to join by Skype videoconference. Don't forget, we're exploring 'new ways to work'.

Who We Are

OfficeXpats on Bainbridge Island is a response to the growing need for a solution beyond working at the corporate office or working from home.

 

Coworking is about making the personal choice to work alongside other people instead of in isolation. We offer a shared office environment that meets the conferencing and community needs of remote workers, independent consultants, and entrepreneurs.

 

OfficeXpats is located in the Pavilion on Madison, just a 10-minute walk from the ferry terminal. We hope to help you in your quest for 'new ways to work.'
