Hydrant Flushing | |
The Saukville Water Dept. will be flushing hydrants throughout the Village between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. October 15th through 19th and October 22nd through 26th. There may be some discoloration in your water during this process. This is iron and is not harmful. We recommend that you do not do laundry if your water is discolored. Running the tap for a short time should clear the lines after the flushing is completed.

More MYTHS About Disaster Preparedness |
1. My insurance policy will take care of everything.
SWAT teams of insurance agents aren't going to instantly rebuild your life. Insurance companies will be more concerned about their own bottom line than yours. In fact, many insurance companies are rewriting policies to redefine some rather common terrorism or disaster-related incidents as being excluded and not coverable. Check your policies closely.
2. I can get free preparedness information on the internet.
Many free sources contain really good information. However many of them are nothing more than a rehash of old ideas and contain nothing new or comprehensive. It takes time to filter the trash from the treasures; some information you might find could cause more problems than they solve. Start with www.ready.gov, but don't stop there, continue your education as best as you can.
3. If something really bad happens, no one will help.
There is no such thing as "no one helping". However, the best thing people can do is to prepare their families so they need as little outside help as possible. There's always someone needier than you, and the more prepared you are, the more you free up assistance resources so they can help those less fortunate. |
Cross Connection Inspections | |
In order to reduce overall costs for compliance with Wisconsin DNR Regulation NR810.15, the Village of Saukville Water Utility has contracted with Hydro Designs, Inc. (HDI), of New Berlin to assist in managing our Cross Connection Control program as required by the State of Wisconsin.
What Is a Cross Connection?
A cross connection is a direct or potential connection between any part of the public water supply system and a source of contamination or pollution. The most common form of cross connection is a garden hose, which is easily connected to the public water supply system and can be used to apply a variety of potentially dangerous substances, including chemicals and fertilizer. Other common cross connections include dishwashers, toilets, pressure washers, boilers, pools, and lawn sprinkler systems.
HDI is sending postal notices and has begun initial inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings throughout the Village to detect actual and potential cross connections and make recommendations for the installation of backflow prevention devices or assemblies where necessary. This will help ensure that contaminated or polluted water cannot backflow into clean drinking water. There is no cost for the inspection and each inspection takes less than 45 minutes on average for a business and less than 20 minutes for a home inspection. |
