Hwy 33 Project & Street Maintenance    Roundabout Tutorial

Construction baricadeSTH 33

The final layer of paving continues.  Work is scheduled  for completion the week of August 20th.  Paving will continue to be done in the evening.  Rain has led to delays.  The NB I43 ramps are scheduled to be closed August 10th; the SB ramp closures are scheduled for August 13th and 14th, one evening for each ramp.  Ramp closures will be from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.  There will be a gap in the final layer underneath the interstate overpass until the overhead work is completed so that the new asphalt is not damaged.  The lane restrictions in this area will continue.  Installation of the permanent pavement markings has begun.  Most of the permanent signage has been installed.

The contractor continues to work on the permanent traffic signals.  They will need to carefully coordinate removal of the temporary units when the new ones are energized.  The street lights will be energized as well.

Questions/Concerns should be directed to Wis DOT Field Representative Paul Piccione, 262-235-4000.

I43

The demolition of the old deck and girder removals continues.  After the new  abutments and center piers are completed, the new girders will be set and the decks formed and poured.  As with the STH 33 project, the rain is also impacting their progress.

Questions/Concerns about the I43 project can be directed to the field office at 262-268-0059.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

NNO

Ozaukee County's National Night Out will be held August 14th

from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Grady Park in Saukville.

National Night Out (NNO) is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and Police-Community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

We invite families to enjoy the evening meeting law enforcement officers from all over Ozaukee County.  Check out the inside of different police squads, motorcycles, and four wheelers.  Meet the canine unit.  Ask questions of the many participants including members from Probation and Parole who handle the registered sex offenders and members of the Drug Enforcement Agency, or sit in during an informational talk about drug use and what to look for.  Take this opportunity to have your child fingerprinted!

Food and beverages from local vendors will be available.  There will be a raffle that costs nothing to enter other than a non-perishable food donation, as well as children's games with prizes.  Pick up brochures, pencils, pens, junior police badges, and glo-sticks for the kids.  The entire event is free of charge due to the great donations by local businesses and civic groups.  Come join us for a fun and informative evening.

Cross Connection Program

What Is a Cross Connection?

Garden HoseA cross connection is a direct or potential connection between any part of the public water supply system and a source of contamination or pollution.  The most common form of cross connection is a garden hose, which is easily connected to the public water supply system and can be used to apply a variety of potentially dangerous substances, including chemicals and fertilizer.  Other common cross connections include dishwashers, toilets, pressure washers, boilers, pools, and lawn sprinkler systems.

In order to reduce overall costs for compliance with DNR Regulation NR810.15, the Village of Saukville Water Utility has contracted with Hydro Designs, Inc. (HDI), of New Berlin, Wisconsin to assist in managing our Cross Connection Control program.

HDI will be sending postal notices and will begin to perform initial inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings throughout the Village to detect actual and potential cross connections and make recommendations for the installation of backflow prevention devices or assemblies where necessary. This will help ensure that contaminated or polluted water cannot backflow into clean drinking water. There is no cost for the inspection and each inspection takes less than 45 minutes on average for a business and less than 20 minutes for a home inspection.
