The final lift of paving will begin on Monday July 30th. There will be two crews working from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.  If allowed, they may work around the clock.  Traffic will be kept open at all times.  The exception will be a one night closure for each of the interstate ramps after midnight.  They anticipate 2 weeks of paving.  The permanent pavement markings will follow when the final paving is done.  Lane restriction will continue due to additional work that must be completed on the outside.  Signals are being installed where not in conflict with the paving and street lighting.

Questions/Concerns should be directed to Wis DOT Field Representative Paul Piccione, 262-235-4000.

Crews are removing the second half of the old decks.  They will need to shift traffic under the overpass to facilitate the demolition without having to close off traffic entirely.

Help Save aTree

Due to the area drought conditions, many village trees are experiencing stress.  You can help by watering the street trees 10 years old and younger at your property with 5 gallons of water per week.  This will greatly help the village crews and you will help save trees and keep our community beautiful.

Ordinance FYI...Sec. 151.2 - Property Maintenance

weedsEven though lawns are not growing due to the current dry conditions, weeds are.  Please keep in mind that the property maintenance requirements still apply.  Please refer to the Village of Saukville Municipal Code regarding  "Maintenance of lawns, yards and property foliage" for complete information.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR  SUMMER FUN!
Summer Watering Reminders

Water your plants and flowers, lawns can wait.  Brown lawns are not dead, just dormant. When rain returns, your lawn will green up again.  If you must water, monitor the amount you apply.  One inch of water a week is needed to keep a lawn green.  For a lawn that is 100 feet by 100 feet, it would cost $50 per week to water it.

Remember, the Village of Saukville no longer offers the summer sewer credit and water evaporates very quickly in extreme mid-day heat - you are actually using more water when watering during peak mid-day heat.  We recommend watering after 6:00 p.m. for optimum efficiency.

Because of redistricting, legislative districts may have changed.  The Government Accountability Board urges voters who may be unfamiliar with their new legislative districts to visit the Voter Public Access website: http://vpa.wi.gov. There, voters can check their registration status, find a polling place, and see a sample ballot.

Cross Connection Program

What Is a Cross Connection?

Garden HoseA cross connection is a direct or potential connection between any part of the public water supply system and a source of contamination or pollution.  The most common form of cross connection is a garden hose, which is easily connected to the public water supply system and can be used to apply a variety of potentially dangerous substances, including chemicals and fertilizer.  Other common cross connections include dishwashers, toilets, pressure washers, boilers, pools, and lawn sprinkler systems.

In order to reduce overall costs for compliance with DNR Regulation NR810.15, the Village of Saukville Water Utility has contracted with Hydro Designs, Inc. (HDI), of New Berlin, Wisconsin to assist in managing our Cross Connection Control program.

HDI will be sending postal notices and will begin to perform initial inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings throughout the Village to detect actual and potential cross connections and make recommendations for the installation of backflow prevention devices or assemblies where necessary. This will help ensure that contaminated or polluted water cannot backflow into clean drinking water. There is no cost for the inspection and each inspection takes less than 45 minutes on average for a business and less than 20 minutes for a home inspection.
