STH 33
Contractors are working to complete all the concrete curbing and rough landscaping in the next two weeks. The final lift of asphalt is scheduled for early August and is currently planned to be done during the evening. The signage along the route is under review for revision in regards to reducing the size and number of signs. All the I43 ramps are completed and there will be no more closures. The new traffic signals at the ramps and Foster Drive should become operational in the first half of August.
Questions/Concerns should be directed to Wis DOT Field Representative Paul Piccione, 262-235-4000.
I43
The demolition of the other half of the overpasses will be done in the next two weeks followed by forming and pouring of the new decks. The previous plan was to close STH 33 another evening to facilitate the demolition but the contractor has now cancelled the need to do so. |

Summer Watering Reminders
Water your plants and flowers, lawns can wait. Brown lawns are not dead, just dormant. When rain returns, it will green up again. If you must water, monitor the amount you apply. One inch of water a week is needed to keep a lawn green. For a lawn that is 100 feet by 100 feet, it would cost $50 per week to water it.
Remember, the Village of Saukville no longer offers the summer sewer credit and water evaporates very quickly in extreme mid-day heat - you are actually using more water when watering during the peak mid-day heat. We recommend watering after 6:00 p.m. for optimum efficiency. |

Cross Connection Program
What Is a Cross Connection?
A cross connection is a direct or potential connection between any part of the public water supply system and a source of contamination or pollution. The most common form of cross connection is a garden hose, which is easily connected to the public water supply system and can be used to apply a variety of potentially dangerous substances, including chemicals and fertilizer. Other common cross connections include dishwashers, toilets, pressure washers, boilers, pools, and lawn sprinkler systems.
In order to reduce overall costs for compliance with DNR Regulation NR810.15, the Village of Saukville Water Utility has contracted with Hydro Designs, Inc. (HDI), of New Berlin, Wisconsin to assist in managing our Cross Connection Control program.
HDI will be sending postal notices and will begin to perform initial inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings throughout the Village to detect actual and potential cross connections and make recommendations for the installation of backflow prevention devices or assemblies where necessary. This will help ensure that contaminated or polluted water cannot backflow into clean drinking water. There is no cost for the inspection and each inspection takes less than 45 minutes on average for a business and less than 20 minutes for a home inspection. |
