Hwy 33 Project                                    Roundabout Tutorial

RoundaboutSTH 33

The crews are completing the concrete work in the roundabouts.  The red concrete is for large trucks making turns so their rear tires remain on a paved surface.  The red color is to alert drivers that this is not a normal driving surface. Curbing and landscaping continue to be constructed as well as street lighting.  Paving crews will return the week of June 11TH to complete driveways and pavement cut-outs.  Traffic lanes will again be switched.  The I43 south bound off-ramp and north bound on-ramp are tentatively scheduled for a week long closure each, beginning June 25th and July 9th, respectively.

Questions/Concerns should be directed to Wis DOT Field Representative Paul Piccione, 262-235-4000.

Brush Chipping

branchResidents are reminded not to park vehicles curbside in front of or near brush piles prior to Monday chipping sessions.  DPW crews cannot get their equipment close enough to branch piles which makes the job more difficult to complete and runs the risk of chips and dust getting on or in the vehicle.  If branches are too difficult to reach, they will not be chipped.  Please - no stumps or other yard waste.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Cross Connection Program
Drinking Water
In order to reduce overall costs for compliance with DNR Regulation NR810.15, the Village of Saukville Water Utility has contracted with Hydro Designs, Inc. (HDI), of New Berlin, Wisconsin to assist in managing our Cross Connection Control program.  There is no cost for the inspection and each inspection takes less than 45 minutes on average for a business and less than 20 minutes for a home inspection.

Starting in June, HDI will send postal notices and begin to perform the initial inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings throughout the Village to detect actual and potential cross connections and make recommendations for the installation of backflow prevention devices or assemblies where necessary.  This will help ensure that contaminated or polluted water cannot backflow into clean drinking water.

What Is a Cross Connection?

A cross connection is a direct or potential connection between any part of the public water supply system and a source of contamination or pollution.  The most common form of cross connection is a garden hose, which is easily connected to the public water supply system and can be used to apply a variety of potentially dangerous substances, including chemicals and fertilizer.  Other common cross connections include dishwashers, toilets, pressure washers, boilers, pools, and lawn sprinkler systems.

 Fire Pits

PermitVillage of Saukville Ordinance requires that a Burn Permit be obtained prior to use of outdoor fire stoves or in-ground pits, and that such devices are to be used for recreational burning only.  You must receive approval from the Fire Chief before installing a fire pit in your yard.  Contact Village Hall at 284-9423 for more information.
