STH 33 RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT - UPDATE

Construction baricade

The storm sewer work at Port Washington State Bank has been completed.  The curbing crews will construct the remaining curb and driveway in this area; paving is planned for next week, after which traffic from the bank to Northwoods Road is to be moved to the south side lanes.  The local street intersections in the Village have all been paved so the pot-holed gravel roads are now history.  The WisDOT is still planning on opening the north and south intersections of CTH LL yet this fall.   Traffic on CTH LL will have to stop at STH 33, whereas traffic on STH 33 at this intersection will not.  It is also planned to re-open Green Bay Road before winter.

The entire length of Progress Drive has been paved and shouldered and continues to be open for traffic.

Remember to slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel when driving through the project limits.  The contractor and WisDOT are making every effort to ensure a timely schedule.

Fire Safety

Now that everyone is comfortable with the time change, did you remember to check and change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors?  Batteries should be replaced at least once a year, but the operation of the detector should be checked monthly.

Something else to be aware of...the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends that smoke detectors be replaced every 10 years.  Look on the back of your detectors to find a date.  This is the date your detector was manufactured.  If this date is longer than 10 years ago, replace your detector now.  Although the detector may still work, it may not be as effective as it was when new.
