STH 33 RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT - UPDATE

Construction baricade

Recent rainfall  has caused delays of a few days. Construction continues to focus on the north lanes and storm sewer work.  Curb will be poured along the segment from Port Washington State Bank to Northwoods Road.  Most of the storm sewer has been completed in this segment.  The north County LL overpass ramp is being removed.

To reduce frustration with traffic backups, pre-plan your travel through the area.  Do your shopping in the evening when traffic volumes are down.  Use CTH W and Mink Ranch Road or CTH W to Sauk Road to drive to Port Washington.  If you are traveling north on I43 to go to Saukville, take exit 93 ( Hwy. 32/CTH V), go south and turn right onto CTH W and go north.

Remember to slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel when driving through the project limits.  The contractor and WisDOT are making every effort to ensure a timely schedule.

Curbside Leaf-Sweeping runs from October 3rd to November 30th. There is no scheduled or guaranteed pick-up days.  Collection is done as time/weather permits.

Before the snow flies...please check your mailbox posts for soundness.   mailbox

Village plow crews do their best to avoid damaging mailboxes, but it still happens on occasion.

Experience has shown that most mailbox damage occurs when the mailbox projects too far into the street or the posts are rotten or weak.

Keeping the furthest projection of the mailbox at least 2 inches behind the back of the concrete curb is recommended.  We also recommend using treated four inch square or round posts made of southern yellow pine.  Inspect the installation each year for rot and weakness.  DO NOT make mailbox posts out of resistant materials such as heavy iron or concrete - you may incur liability if struck by a vehicle.

Daylight Savings Time is Approaching...

FALL BACK - November 6th is Day-Light Savings Time.  Remember to turn your clocks back

one hour.  This is also a good time to check and/or replace the batteries in your smoke detectors.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH - We Need Your Help!!!

Vandalism costs you, the taxpayer, every time it occurs.Neighborhood Watch

The Village has been experiencing an increase in vandalism of our municipal facilities, especially during the summer months.  Vandalism to municipal property this year includes: damages to Grady Park restrooms,  fire set on Quade Park picnic tables, rock damage to the Quade Park water tower, and stolen and damaged items at Oscar Grady Library.  You can help by being the extra eyes and ears of the community and reporting any suspicious activity to the law enforcement IMMEDIATELY.  Call 284-0444 (Saukville P.D.) weekdays 8 a.m. to midnight and 284-7172 (Ozaukee Co. Sheriffs Dept.) after midnight weekdays, and on weekends.  This gives the Police Dept. added opportunity to catch vandals in the act and protect your community assets.
