STH 33 RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT - UPDATE

The south segment of Hwy. 33 from Northwoods Road to Port Washington will be utilized for the duration of the fall and winter. Construction is now focusing on the north lanes and will continue as late as weather and materials availability will allow going into winter. The storm sewer work will continue. All four interstate ramps will be open throughout the winter. CTH LL south of Hwy. 33 will be open this fall, as well as the 2nd Ave. intersection in Port Washington. The roundabout intersections will not be constructed until next year.
To reduce frustration with traffic backups, pre-plan your travel through the area. Do your shopping in the evening when traffic volumes are down. Use CTH W and Mink Ranch Road or CTH W to Sauk Road to drive to Port Washington. If you are traveling north on I43 to go to Saukville, take exit 93 ( Hwy. 32/CTH V), go south and turn right onto CTH W and go north.
Remember to slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel when driving through the project limits. The contractor and WisDOT are making every effort to ensure a timely schedule.
DOT Field Office: 217 N. Freeman Drive (St. John's Church), Port Washington.
Questions & Concerns: Jeanne Marchant, DOT Project Leader, at (262)235-4000.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH - We Need Your Help!!!
Vandalism costs you, the taxpayer, every time it occurs.
The Village has been experiencing an increase in vandalism of our municipal facilities, especially during the summer months. Vandalism to municipal property this year includes: damages to Grady Park restrooms, fire set on Quade Park picnic tables, rock damage to the Quade Park water tower, and stolen and damaged items at Oscar Grady Library. You can help by being the extra eyes and ears of the community and reporting any suspicious activity to the law enforcement IMMEDIATELY. Call 284-0444 (Saukville P.D.) weekdays 8 a.m. to midnight and 284-7172 (Ozaukee Co. Sheriffs Dept.) after midnight weekdays, and on weekends. This gives the Police Dept. added opportunity to catch vandals in the act and protect your community assets. |

Dept. of Public Works |
Final day of BRANCH CHIPPING is Monday, October 31, 2011.
Curbside Leaf-Sweeping runs from October 3rd to November 30th. There is no scheduled or guaranteed pick-up days. Collection is done as time/weather permits.
Before the snow flies...please check your mailbox posts for soundness.
Village plow crews do their best to avoid damaging mailboxes, but it still happens on occasion.
Experience has shown that most mailbox damage occurs when the mailbox projects too far into the street or the posts are rotten or weak.
Keeping the furthest projection of the mailbox at least 2 inches behind the back of the concrete curb is recommended. We also recommend using treated four inch square or round posts made of southern yellow pine. Inspect the installation each year for rot and weakness. DO NOT make mailbox posts out of resistant materials such as heavy iron or concrete - you may incur liability if struck by a vehicle. |

Water/Sewer Utility | |
Third Quarter Utility Payments are due October 26th.

Late fees apply effective October 27th.
Sewer Rate Increase:
A sewer rate increase will take effect January 1, 2012.
Residents will see the rate increase on the first quarter billing in April.
The cost to the average household will be approximately an additional $52 per year. The increase is necessary to cover unavoidable costs for overhead operations, rising fuel and electricity fees, loss of income due to stymied economic growth, repairs to the aging system and equipment, and environmental regulatory requirements. The Water/Wastewater Utilities will continue to strive to keep delivery costs to a minimum without sacrificing quality of service. |
