STH 33 RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT - UPDATE | |
The contractor is now focusing on the north side of the highway. Planned completion for the storm sewer is the third week of October. The plan is to work as late as possible as weather and material delivery will allow moving towards winter. All intersections will be paved in their temporary configuration but the roundabouts will not be
operational until 2012.
To reduce frustration with traffic backups, pre-plan your travel through the area. Do your shopping in the evening when traffic volumes are down. Use CTH W and Mink Ranch Road or CTH W to Sauk Road to drive to Port Washington. If you are traveling north on I43 to go to Saukville, take exit 93 ( Hwy. 32/CTH V), go south and turn right onto CTH W and go north.
Remember to slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel when driving through the project limits. Proceed with extreme caution. The contractor and WisDOT are making every effort to ensure a timely schedule.
DOT Field Office: 217 N. Freeman Drive (St. John's Church), Port Washington.
Questions & Concerns: Jeanne Marchant, DOT Project Leader, at (262)235-4000.

Final day of BRANCH CHIPPING is Monday, October 31, 2011.
Curbside Leaf-Sweeping runs from October 3rd to November 30th. There is no scheduled or guaranteed pick-up days. Collections is done as time/weather permits.
- Do NOT mix twigs/branches/pumpkins with leaves (we cannot pick them up with the leaf vacuum equipment)
- Do not park vehicles on or near leaf piles. Our truck will not be able to reach them and they will not be collected. Vehicle exhaust can also start the leaves on fire!
- Do not rake leaves into large/high piles. Long strips along the curb-line are easiest for the Vac-all truck to collect.
- Do not place leaves on or near storm sewers where they will clog the inlets and pipes.
- Residents are encouraged to bring all leaves and organic material to the DPW Compost Disposal Site, Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., by November 12th (final day of Compost Site opening).

| Water/Sewer Utility | |
Third Quarter Billing:
Third quarter water/sewer bills were mailed out October 4th. If you did not receive your green postcard billing, or have any questions, please call Village Hall (262-284-9423).
Hydrant Flushing:
The Water Dept. will be flushing hydrants throughout the Village Oct. 10th through Oct. 21st, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There may be some discoloration in your water during this process. This is iron and is not harmful. Do not do laundry if your water is discolored: if you do and your clothes have a reddish appearance, DO NOT DRY the clothes; rather rewash in cold water to remove the discoloration. Running the tap for a short time will clear the lines after flushing is completed.
Sewer Rate Increase:
A sewer rate increase will take effect January 1, 2012. Residents will see the rate increase on the first quarter billing in April. The cost to the average household will be approximately an additional $52 per year. The increase is necessary to cover unavoidable costs for overhead operations, rising fuel and electricity fees, loss of income due to stymied economic growth, repairs to the aging system and equipment, and environmental regulatory requirements. The Water/Wastewater Utilities will continue to strive to keep delivery costs to a minimum without sacrificing quality of service. |
