STH 33 RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT - UPDATE

Caution

Traffic will be shifted to the new east-bound lanes starting at Northwoods Road and going east to Port Washington this week.

Storm sewer work in the Village is expected to be completed the week of October 14th.

Beginning October 7th, the intersection of Green Bay Road and STH 33 will be closed until 2012.

To reduce frustration with traffic backups, pre-plan your travel through the area.  Do your shopping in the evening when traffic volumes are down.  Use CTH W and Mink Ranch Road or CTH W to Sauk Road to drive to Port Washington.  If you are traveling north on I43 to go to Saukville, take exit 93 ( Hwy. 32/CTH V), go south and turn right ontoCone CTH W and go north.

Remember to slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel when driving through the project limits. Proceed with extreme caution.  The contractor and WisDOT are making every effort to ensure a timely schedule.

Water/Sewer Utility

Third Quarter Billing:

Third quarter water/sewer bills were mailed out October 4th.  If you do not receive your green postcard billing, or have any questions, please call Village Hall (262-284-9423).

Hydrant Flushing:fire hydrant

The Water Dept. will be flushing hydrants throughout the Village Oct. 10th through Oct. 21st, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  There may be some discoloration in your water during this process.  This is iron and is not harmful.  We recommend that you do not do laundry if your water is discolored.  If you forget and your clothes have a reddish appearance, DO NOT DRY the clothes; rather rewash in cold water to remove the discoloration.  Running the tap for a short time will clear the lines after flushing is completed.

Sewer Rate Increase:

A sewer rate increase will take effect January 1, 2012.  Residents will see the rate increase on the first quarter billing in April.  The cost to the average household will be approximately an additional $52 per year.  The increase is necessary to cover unavoidable costs for overhead operations, rising fuel and electricity fees, loss of income due to stymied economic growth, repairs to the aging system and equipment, and environmental regulatory requirements.  The Water/Wastewater Utilities will continue to strive to keep delivery costs to a minimum without sacrificing quality of service.

Senior Luncheon at Oscar Grady Library
