STH 33 RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT - UPDATE

Caution

Both interstate ramps that were previously closed are open and will continue to be open through the duration of the project.  The contractor will continue to work on the storm sewer lines from Port Washington State Bank to Northwoods Road.

It is tentatively planned to move traffic to the new lanes on the south side from Northwoods Road to Port Washington the week of October 3.

To reduce frustration with traffic backups, pre-plan your travel through the area.  Do your shopping in the evening when traffic volumes are down.  Use CTH W and Mink Ranch Road or CTH W to Sauk Road to drive to Port Washington.  If you are traveling north on I43 to go to Saukville, take exit 93 ( Hwy. 32/CTH V), go south and turn right ontoCone CTH W and go north.

Paving of N. Mill Street from Dekora Street to the north end of the Village was completed on Tuesday, Sept. 27th.  Motorists now have a new road surface for smooth, safe travel.

As always, please slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel when driving through the project limits. Proceed with extreme caution. The contractor and WisDOT are making every effort to ensure a timely schedule.   DOT

  Project Scope & Traffic Impact

Water/Sewer Utility

Hydrant Flushing:fire hydrant

The Water Dept. will be flushing hydrants throughout the Village Oct. 10th through Oct. 21st, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  There may be some discoloration in your water during this process.  This is iron and is not harmful.  We recommend that you do not do laundry if your water is discolored.  If you forget and your clothes have a reddish appearance, DO NOT DRY the clothes; rather rewash in cold water to remove the discoloration.  Running the tap for a short time will clear the lines after flushing is completed.

Sewer Rate Increase:

A sewer rate increase will take effect January 1, 2012.  Residents will see the rate increase on the first quarter billing in April.  The cost to the average household will be approximately an additional $52 per year.  The increase is necessary to cover unavoidable costs for overhead operations, rising fuel and electricity fees, loss of income due to stymied economic growth, repairs to the aging system and equipment, and environmental regulatory requirements.  The Water/Wastewater Utilities will continue to strive to keep delivery costs to a minimum without sacrificing quality of service.
