STH 33 Reconstruction Project | |
Work on the reconstruction project is expected to begin on Tuesday, May 31st. The contractor is expected to begin some of the roadwork for the temporary widening of the westbound lanes between Port Washington and Saukville.
Project Scope: WIS 33 from Saukville to Port Washington will be reconstructed from a 2 lane roadway to a four-lane divided roadway. Roundabouts will be added at Market Street, Northwoods Road and at the County LL overpass (the County LL overpass structure will be removed). Also the traffic signals at Foster, I-43 SB ramps and I-43 NB ramps will be replaced. Street lighting, sidewalks and a multi-use path will also be added to this project.
Traffic Impacts: WIS 33, between Saukville and Port Washington, will be built half at a time, with traffic operating on a temporary roadway while the new section is being built, after the new section is built, then traffic will be switched. There will be a two-day detour to remove the County LL overpass structure (over WIS 33) and other short detours while the four ramps are reconstructed at the WIS 33 and I-43 interchange. Each ramp will be closed for approximately one week and traffic will be detoured to the next interchange immediately north or south of the WIS 33 interchange (depending on which ramp is closed). Mitigation contracts are in place with the State Patrol to help minimize traffic impacts.

| Tree City USA Community |
As a Tree City USA Community, the Village strongly promotes the planting of trees and shrubs on private property. Trees add value and shade, attract birds and provide aesthetic improvement to properties. When choosing a species, keep in mind the adult size and growth habit of the tree. Avoid trees that shed fruit or seeds, or trees that can literally take over your yard. Do not plant "weed" trees such as box elder, willow, cottonwood, aspen or silver maple. If not sure what to plant, consult with a qualified arborist or nursery.
