Student & Staff Highlights

  

Board member Terry Lenchitsky thanked Sandy High Leadership students for their participation in the September 7th Grand Opening event.

  • Superintendent Aaron Bayer introduced Friwood Elementary School's new principal Tara Black, along with Tara's husband Jason and daughters Avery and Jenna.
  • Bayer stated that early reports show increased student enrollment. Official ten-day enrollment numbers will be available after September 17th.
  • Certified/Teachers Association President Carrie Scaife announced that a team of teachers and administrators worked collaboratively over the summer to develop a new teacher evaluation system.
Class Rankings
The Board approved an update to Policy IKC: Class Rankings. Beginning with the class of 2013, the valedictorian and salutatorian will be Honors Diploma recipients.
Oregon Trail Primary Academy update
  • OTPA board member Karen Swift announced that Gregg Chastain has been appointed to the OTPA Governing Board.
  • OTPA is currently in the verification process for International Baccalaureate (IB) status.

Postive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS)

 

Naas Principal and District PBIS Coordinator Kimberly Braunberger presented a PBIS program update.

During the 2011-2012 school year, the district-wide PBIS team focused on aligning transportation department strategies with school strategies for student management. All school bus drivers were trained to use the strategies at an August in-service.
