| Scripture 4 Today | |
Acts 24:24-25 (AMP)
24 Some days later Felix
came with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jewess; and he sent for Paul and
listened to him [talk] about faith in Christ Jesus. 25 But as he continued to
argue about uprightness, purity of life (the control of the passions), and the
judgment to come, Felix became alarmed and terrified and said, Go away for the
present; when I have a convenient opportunity, I will send for you. |
| Thought 4 Today |
Notice the four points of
Paul's sermon to Felix and Drusilla. 1. Faith in Christ 2. Uprightness 3. Purity of life - the control
of the passions 4. The judgment to come Whatever Paul said about
these four truths alarmed and terrified Felix, so much so that Felix sent Paul
away with the promise to listen to him again later on. The control of the passions
is an interesting and needed truth, one that is left out of many churches
today. Everything about man must
come under control. Our thoughts need to be controlled. Our emotions need to be
controlled. Our bodies need to be controlled. If you don't control your mind
and thoughts, and allow your mind to run wild, you will be unhappy, tormented,
and confused. If you don't control your emotions, and allow any old feeling to
manifest itself any time it wants to, you will be constantly on an emotional
rollercoaster, whipped around by strong and sometimes conflicting feelings,
until you don't know what's happening to you. If there are no restraints put on
your body and its desires, you will indulge in every kind of appetite that the
body has. Control, with the Holy
Spirit's help the dictates of your spirit, soul, and body. "But the fruit of the Spirit
is ...self control." Gal.5:22-23

| A Prayer To Receive Jesus Christ As Your Lord |
Romans 10:9 NLT: "For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Jesus becomes the Lord of your life by your own personal invitation and declaration, and by believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead.
PRAYER: "Jesus, I invite you to be my personal Lord and Savior. I believe You died for my sins and that God has raised You from the dead. This very moment I declare aloud with my own mouth that You are Lord of my life! Thank you for Your forgiveness and your unconditional love. Jesus, you are the Son of God! From this moment forward I determine to live for You because You died for me. I surrender myself to God. I am now Yours. Thank you for saving me and making me a brand new person deep within my heart. Thank You for this new beginning and the assurance of heaven being my eternal home. I love You, Lord Jesus, because You first loved me! Amen." |
