| Scripture 4 Today | Matthew 10:2-4 (AMP)
2 Now these are the names of the twelve apostles (special messengers): first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip and Bartholomew [Nathaniel]; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus [Judas, not Iscariot]; 4 Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him." |

There is a very interesting little word amidst the names of all of the apostles. Can you spot it? It carries with it a lot of meaning for the verses above. See it yet? It's the word, "First." The Scripture says, "First, Simon, who is called Peter..." The word, "First" indicates a definite order among the apostles. If there is a first, then there has to be a second. Andrew held the second spot. James was number three and John was number four, etc. Judas Iscariot was last or number twelve. Remember the fight among the twelve concerning who among them would be the greatest? They were fighting and arguing about who would be number one, under Jesus! 3 John 1:9 (NIV) 9 I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to be first, will have nothing to do with us. There have always been fights among God's people and even church staff members about who would hold down the number one position, under the established leader. That fight among the first disciples is still going on today some two thousand years later. Would your pride and self worth allow you to be number two? Number three? Number eight? Or, number eleven? What if you were number seven on the chart? Could you be happy and content there? Would you do your best there? Would you feel good about yourself there? Your answer to these questions will reveal a lot!

| A Prayer To Receive Jesus Christ As Your Lord |
Romans 10:9 NLT: "For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Jesus becomes the Lord of your life by your own personal invitation and declaration, and by believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead.
PRAYER: "Jesus, I invite you to be my personal Lord and Savior. I believe You died for my sins and that God has raised You from the dead. This very moment I declare aloud with my own mouth that You are Lord of my life! Thank you for Your forgiveness and your unconditional love. Jesus, you are the Son of God! From this moment forward I determine to live for You because You died for me. I surrender myself to God. I am now Yours. Thank you for saving me and making me a brand new person deep within my heart. Thank You for this new beginning and the assurance of heaven being my eternal home. I love You, Lord Jesus, because You first loved me! Amen." |
