People labor in vain! To do anything that God is not doing is to labor in vain. So, obviously, our job should be to find out what God is doing and join it! When we don't know what God is doing and we just do something, even something good, we labor in vain.
 
I must admit that I make decisions very slowly. That was not always the case with me. When I was younger, I would strike out and just do things, and ask God to bless it. But now, after 36 years as a pastor, I don't have the time or energy to waste doing anything that God is not doing.
 
I have many good ideas. But I have also learned that a GOOD-IDEA is not always a GOD-IDEA!  Good ideas can flounder and fail too. Then all of your work is for nothing.
 
There are ideas that I have discussed for years with the leadership of my church, but I never make the decision to implement these ideas. Why? Because at this point, it is just a good idea. Until or unless I see God doing it, I don't want to do it! Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by Himself; He can only do what He sees His Father doing, because whatever the Father does, the Son also does." John.5:19
 
Let's find out what God's doing and give that our 100%. It's always wise to have God pulling with you and that's what He will do when you join Him and His newest venture!
