The success guru's are always telling us that a secret to attaining our goals and a happy life is to never give up. This advice presumes that you are doing the right thing, in the right place, at the right time. By the "right" thing, I mean the God thing. If you're a believer and you are doing what God told you to do, in the place God told you to do it, then you better never, ever, ever give up! But, if you're not doing what God told you to do, and you're not in the place assigned to you by God, then you better give up and fast!
 
If you're doing the wrong thing, in the wrong place, the worst possible advice you could ever receive is, "Don't quit, hang in there." 
 
Moses had to give up shepherding his father-in-law's sheep to answer the call from the burning bush. David had to give up minding his father's sheep business to answer the call of God to become king. Peter, James and John had to give up the family fishing business to follow Jesus. The men mentioned above each had to quit something in order to move into their destiny. In fact, Jesus said that anyone who follows Him must give up all, even their own lives, to follow Him. Luke 14.
 
So, the popular advice to never give up needs a lot of qualifying. Hang in there forever if you are doing your God thing. Quit today, if you are doing your own thing. By quitting what you should not have been doing anyway, you're now free to step into your destiny!
