We should live our lives on this earth with eternity in view and not for this world or this life. Our time here is so brief. We, as God's children, are just passing through. We are headed elsewhere. Our destination is Heaven. Our citizenship is in Heaven too. Philippians 3:20.
 
The Hebrew words for, "Stranger," and "Temporary," literally mean, to be a guest, a foreigner, to be one who is not native to this land or people, and to live among people who are not blood relatives. The latter phrase might be better understood to word it this way, "To live among people who are not spiritual relatives." After all, for Israel, to be a blood relative meant that you were also a spiritual relative. Thus, clearly we know that as a child of God we are living among people who are not our spiritual relatives.
 
For a people who are temporary residents we are very earthly minded. Most of our time, energy, work, plans, actions, and behavior are for the things of this life, as though the things of this life are permanent.
 
The only things that are truly permanent are the things of God. Your obedience, love, tithes, offerings, faith, evangelism, service to God, prayers, etc. are the only things that will live past this life! They are the only things you will take into the next life with you! Paul described the deed of giving as a deed of justice, goodness, kindness, and benevolence that would go on and endure forever!!! 2 Corinthians 9:9 Amplified Bible.
 
Mark, "Temporary" on all of the tangible and intangible things that you treasure so much. It is all perishable. The earth is not your home. You are just visiting!
