Amplified Bible
"Then they spurned and despised the pleasant and
desirable land (Canaan)..."

| Thought 4 Today |
Look at the verse above and
take it at face value. Who, in their right mind, would spurn and despise
anything that is pleasant and desirable? No doubt, we would all reject that which is
unpleasant and undesirable. But Canaan was God's gift to the children of Abraham.
It was the land that flowed with milk and honey. Remember, it's grapes were so large that it took two men to carry some back to camp. By hating Canaan they hated
God's will, God's gift, and God's blessing. They hated their own God given
inheritance, and God only gives us that which is good! How is it that Satan can
blind us and turn us against what God has given us? He was even able to
convince Adam and Eve that there was something better for them than Paradise! So many of us have it made
and don't know it. We don't see it. And, if you don't know it and don't see it,
you certainly don't enjoy it. David said, "The lines have
fallen for me in pleasant places: yes, I have a good heritage." (Psalm 16:6 Amp) In
other words David said, "Through God, I have a good life." Despite troubles and
challenges I bet you have a good life too. But here's why we don't see it or
enjoy it. Satan says, "It could be better. The grass is greener elsewhere." In
other words the enemy says, "There is a better life for you." Who doesn't want
a better life? We all do. But we get so caught up in wanting that which is
better that we despise our present pleasant land! |
| A Prayer To Receive Jesus Christ As Your Lord |
Romans 10:9 NLT: "For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Jesus becomes the Lord of your life by your own personal invitation and declaration, and by believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead.
PRAYER: "Jesus, I invite you to be my personal Lord and Savior. I believe You died for my sins and that God has raised You from the dead. This very moment I declare aloud with my own mouth that You are Lord of my life! Thank you for Your forgiveness and your unconditional love. Jesus, you are the Son of God! From this moment forward I determine to live for You because You died for me. I surrender myself to God. I am now Yours. Thank you for saving me and making me a brand new person deep within my heart. Thank You for this new beginning and the assurance of heaven being my eternal home. I love You, Lord Jesus, because You first loved me! Amen." |
