Chirgilchin - Tuvan Throat Singers

Chirgilchin
Sunday, May 2, 2010
4:00 PM (Doors open at 3:30 PM)

Tickets:
$14 adults, $7 children under 12

Chirgilchin, a group of musicians from Tuva (a small Russian province north of Western Mongolia), play handmade instruments and sing ancient folk songs in their native language.

Atmospheric and mesmerizing, throat singing is almost too difficult to describe in words and is  best heard to be believed.  The music, produced by resonating low sounds in the throat, creates a middle note and a haunting, flute-like harmonic.

Tickets are available online at Brown Paper Tickets  and in person at Books By The Way
