Time Management Tips
In truth, people can generally make time for what they choose to do; it is not really the time but the will that is lacking. (Sir John Lubbock)
In this age of everything being available 24/7, we find ourselves trying to cram more things to do in each given day. We work, eat, drive, and communicate faster in the hopes of saving a few minutes. We have lost our rest and quiet time to recharge or just think about life. The quality of our work is hurt and we become less productive on what really matters to us. Try these few tips to help you balance your time better.
- Goal Setting: My favorite because it truly helps you to say what is most important. Choose one or two goals that mean the most to you. Write them down, say them out loud each day, and share them with others. It will make your goals real and easier to keep your focus.
- To Do Lists: Writing things done does help us to view and remember our tasks, but be careful not to create lists just for the sake of lists. Prioritize your tasks. To really make it effective, you must schedule the task or project to insure it gets completed.
- Plan your Time: Take those goals/tasks/ideas/futures and bring it into the present to help you to advance them. Allocate time to get your priority tasks done first.
- Review Religiously: To help you stay focused on your goals/tasks, check your calendar often to make sure you are working on the right things and not wasting your time.
- Use basic and simple tools: It is not necessary to use the latest gadgets if you are confused by them.
- Include Idle Time: It is also important to schedule down time. This helps your work-life balance. It will also help your creativity and innovation when you are ready to put actions into place for those priorities.
