In Winn's Words

newsealFamilies are our priority.  We are here for the Mom whose son has just been picked up by the police for drunk driving.  And for the wife whose husband has not been home in days because he has chosen drugs over his family.  For the father whose daughter has chosen the streets over a safe place at home...

We not only work with the individual struggling with addiction, but we are here for the whole family who struggles.
We teach those that enable an addict's behavior how to "bring the bottom up".  One of our goals is to reach this community with the message of hope and freedom from drug and alcohol addiction....once and for all!   Click here to see my interview on "Your Carolina".

Farron's Fruit's       A Word To Preserve

Farron Hancox
Education  &  Counseling Director
There is nothing more heartbreaking than seeing a person dear to us slowly killing themselves with drugs. Even more so when you are a parent or a spouse.  But, by enabling the person you could prolong the process and "hurt" that person more than you help.

 Five Ways to "STOP ENABLING"!

1. Turn them and the situation over to God. Tell God that just like Abraham you are going to lay your Isaac down and put your complete trust in Him knowing that He is in control and nothing is impossible with Him.
2. Don't condone behavior you would not tolerate in others.   Has this person  been disrespectful, stealing, or lying?  If so hold them accountable for their actions.
3. Stop doing things that person should be doing for themselves! Are  you paying  their bills time and time again? As parents and care givers what good are we doing if we do not demand responsibility? If they are not capable of handling a full load then you must help grow them to the point where they can.
4.  Set boundaries.    Are you giving someone complete reign in your home?  We must help the individual  establish some discipline in their life so they can come to understand a life without discipline is a life with consequences.
5.  Don't rescue.  You are not God.  When individuals allow the sin of addiction into their lives with wrong choices they must face the consequences which can  bring them to a place of true repentance.  Give God a chance to get their attention.
