winnEvery structure needs to be built on a solid foundation to be a sound structure. In 1 Corinthians, the Apostle Paul speaks of our lives in builders terms.   In 1 Corinthians 3:11 Paul says "For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ." We follow that principle in that, to build a healthy and addiction free life, your life must be built on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ.

In Luke 20:17, Jesus, speaking in a parable, describes himself as the "stone that the builders rejected" and who becomes "the cornerstone." Again in 1 Peter 2:4-7 We read "As you come to Him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it stands in Scripture: 'Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.' So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, 'The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone....'"
In the same manner, our entire ministry is built on the principle of Jesus Christ, as not only the foundation, but the chief cornerstone.

Change a Heart, Change a life...
From Nightmare,
To Shining Knight...

Even prison isn't enough to turn some people around. This was certainly the case for Brian Reid. In 1997 he went to prison for selling cocaine. He spent a whole year behind bars. When he got out he moved in with his girlfriend and two years later they had their first son Tyler.  The newfound responsibility of becoming a daddy and later that year marrying his sweetheart, Tina, were not enough to change him.  Not even a little.

Brian had progressed from being a dope dealer to being a full-time dope user.  Brian recalls "I always thought I could quit on my own, but it never happened.  I was shooting up crystal meth and I was out of my mind most of the time and if I wasn't; I was thinking about it.  I couldn't wait until Friday night; I always knew I could do what I wanted.  If I left on a Friday and did drugs all weekend by at least Tuesday or so I would be able to talk my way back into my relationship with my wife."

Tina, his wife, recalls it differently.  "I would spend most nights  >>>READ MORE

Farron's Fruits: "Passages on love"

Farron's Fruits picFebruary 14th is the time when love is expressed by others in all forms and fashions. Some may choose to send cards, write letters, or even take that significant other out for the evening. However, in this commercialized day of the year I wonder do we actually know what real love is. Hollywood has portrayed it as being swept off your feet by another or a warm fuzzy feeling. It is true that when we meet someone we are attracted to, we experience a warm fuzzy feeling. However, this feeling we are experiencing is infatuation or it could even be lust. When one becomes infatuated there is an elated feeling which can bring about euphoria and give the perception of love. However, let us rest assure this is not love, as love is not an emotion, it is a commitment. I am thankful that love is not a feeling because if that were true I would hardly ever love my family. The butterflies are gone from seeing my son being born therefore I must not love him. What about my wife? Those warm fuzzy feelings are not always there either, does that mean the love is gone. Of course not! I love my son and want the best for him. Therefore, I am willing to make sacrifices for him. This holds true for my wife. Because I love her, I am willing to make sacrifices for her. This I do willingly and ask for nothing in return. I am committed to them and want the very best for them. That's what love is, it's a commitment.

One might be asking why I would say such things. Well, I believe much of the world

What's Developing?

judy3As we start off the month of February, I cannot help but think of flowers, chocolates and hearts!  You know Wisdom In Living Life Ministry is very much like the month of February.  How you ask?

First Wisdom In Living Life Ministry is like a bouquet of flowers.  For ten years this ministry has planted seeds in many lives dealing with addiction.  And through the grace of God, lives have begun to bloom.  When we look at the stories of the many individuals and families that have been changed by the ministry, a beautiful bouquet is formed.

Secondly, one of my favorite indulgences not just in February but all year long is of course chocolate!  But the chocolate candy I love to enjoy did not just happen that way it, went through a refining process.  Wisdom In Living Life Ministry is like that with the persons that come through our doors.  There is a refining process that each student goes through - from a life of bitterness to a life of pure sweetness by being transformed by Jesus Christ!

And lastly, February and hearts!  Not only do Valentines remind us of February, but this is national heart awareness month. Part of Wisdom In Living Life Ministry's mission is to change a heart - change a life! So day by day classes are designed to change hearts!

But to change hearts, to watch the bitter change to sweetness and make beautiful bouquets requires donations from people like you!

Will you please prayerfully consider making a donation today to Wisdom In Living Life Ministry?  Only through donations can the ministry continue providing the services that has been offered for the past ten years.

I would like to challenge you to help us reach for the month of February our goal is $2010 from the e-news!  Any amount is appreciated! Donate Here
