Thank You!

The great Ronald Reagan once said, "Perhaps the greatest triumph of modern conservatism has been to stop allowing the left to put the average American on the moral defensive.  By average American I mean the good, decent, rambunctious and creative people who raise the families, go to church and help out when the local library holds a fundraiser; people who have a stake in the community because they are the community.

Thanks for your hard work this election season in helping put the average American back on the offense.

Due to our collective efforts, Tuesday night, November 2nd was an historic one across the State of North Carolina.  Let me highlight some important facts:

 1)   As you are now aware, Republicans took control of both chambers of the North Carolina General Assembly for the first time since 1898.  This is great news for our State.

 2)   In Mecklenburg County, the Democrats aimed for Rep. Jim Gulley's seat as one of their top targets nationally.

Thankfully, our Republican candidate Bill Brawley won this seat and will head to Raleigh with the new Republican majority.

 3)   Our Race to the Polls initiative was also a success in Mecklenburg County.  When the early voting numbers came in, we were actually ahead in a number of races including being in first, second and fourth place in the at-large County Commission races.

Unfortunately as the final votes came in late Tuesday night, only Jim Pendergraph's lead would hold.  Though we were disappointed not to be able to take back majority control of the County Commission, we are excited to have Jim as a new voice to help balance to the Commission and look forward to providing him more support in 2012.

 4)   As a lawyer, I'm excited to report outstanding results in our District Attorney's race and Judicial races across the County.  In the first District Attorney's race in decades, we are excited to celebrate Andrew Murray's victory

We also swept the judicial races and congratulations are in order for Judges (or soon to be judges) Bill Constangy, Lisa Bell, Matt Osman and Sean Smith.

 5)   Having over forty Republican candidates on the ballot this year, many running in areas that few Republicans have previously, we also lost a number of spirited campaigns around our County.

It is especially tough to run against incumbents in a county with a heavy registration advantage for Democrats (275,000 Democrats to 171,000 Republicans).

Our special thanks goes to all of our County Commission candidates, State House and Senate candidates, our candidate for Sheriff, our Congressional candidates (and all others that I failed to mention) those as Teddy Roosevelt said, "actually in the arena whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood."

It has been a privilege to work with all of these candidates and all of you volunteers.  Please know we are already back at work and welcome your input and laboring hands.

Sincerely yours,

Rob Bryan
