Democratic County Commission Candidates Can Run But They Can't Hide ... November is Coming!
Charlotte, N.C. - Two weeks ago MeckGOP County Commission candidate Corey Thompson, together with fellow MeckGOP candidates Dan Ramirez and Jim Pendergraph, issued an unequivocal challenge to their Democratic opponents that they would "debate anytime anywhere." (CLICK HERE FOR CLIP)
Speak Out Charlotte, a local public access show, took the MeckGOP candidates up on their challenge and put together what would have been the ONLY debate of at-large County Commission candidates of the campaign season. This morning all of the Democratic candidates simultaneously withdrew from the forum.
MeckGOP Spokesman Gideon Moore stated, "We're deeply disappointed that Jennifer Roberts, Harold Cogdell Jr. and Dan Murrey are continuing to refuse to debate Jim Pendergraph, Dan Ramirez and Corey Thompson. Given the serious problems facing Mecklenburg County, the voters deserve better than this."
MeckGOP Vice-Chair Claire Mahoney also commented, "For months now the public has been clamoring for openness and accountability from their elected officials. It's pretty clear that Commissioners Roberts, Cogdell and Murrey don't want to try to defend their ineffective and unsustainable big-government record. Whether they debate or not, November is coming."
