Greetings!
Over the next few weeks you'll be receiving several email newsletters in an attempt to keep you updated about the latest research, events and happenings involving Book of Mormon evidences in America's Heartland. In them you will find research articles, opportunities to learn in more depth, how and where to find more information, how to share this with others, the effect it is having on people around the world and how we can all use it to bring more of those looking for the truth to the gospel. We are living in exciting and challenging times to be sure. We need to be prepared to answer the questions that will surely be asked as Mormonism gains more and more exposure by the main stream media outlets around the world. The Heartland Model geography offers the most effective answers to Book of Mormon authenticity questions available and it is truly sweeping throughout the membership of the Church. Your help is needed in order to educate as many as possible as quickly as possible in order to better understand the sacred covenants and judgements that are upon this nation - the Lord's promised land. This is another installment in our ongoing effort to provide you with the information that will arm you with these answers as well as give you a chance to "enjoy the journey" through associations with truly great individuals we'd like to introduce you to and highlight in this newsletter. There was some confusion in the last email about all the brief summaries listed below, because they were not linked to other pages. FIRM President Rod Meldrum first met Alex Boye' at a fireside many years ago and was inspired by his passion, testimony, and amazing vocal talent. More recently, Rod learned that Alex is also a fellow "Heartlander!" Although he was born in London, England, in February of this year he was officially sworn in as a United States citizen. Watch Alex as he is invited to sing the National Anthem at the completion of his swearing in ceremony.

Alex Boye' Performing at
10th National Book of Mormon Evidence Conference!
After a conversation regarding the promises and covenants of the Lord with America, Alex determined to incorporate those ideals into his latest music video which he began writing as he watched the World Trade Center towers collapse on 9/11. For years he wanted to complete the song, but could not put it all together until recently. The song became the title of his new album "Calling America." Read the Lyrics HERE. This wonderfully patriotic song/video includes Native American dancers, a stone passed hand to hand with a special word on it (watch to the very end!), as well as a warning regarding the Lord's sacred covenant with America found in Isaiah from the "Harbinger" book by Jonathan Cahn. It is all set to incredibly powerful music that brings all American's, black, white, Native, etc. together and calls them to remember the greatness of this nation we call the United States of America..
Inside Story - A Small Miracle
Alex's video was partially shot in the Utah State Capital building which was the result of a small miracle. Capital staff wanted $10,000 for its use, but a friend of Alex knew a state senator who realized that they were out of session on the third floor and made free arrangements. Amazingly, this lead to using the very same third floor doors that entered into the actual room where Alex had previously brought his citizenship application papers for processing!
Alex Boye' tells the story of his early life and how he became a Mormon in this touching video.
Alex has been entertaining audiences worldwide for over 16 years and has had hits in over 15 countries, selling over half a million CD's and performing alongside such groups as Bryan Adams, George Michael, Simon Garfunkel, MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, N'SYNC, Jay-Z, The Backstreet Boys, Jordyn Sparks, David Archuleta, and The smashing Pumpkins to name a few. He recently invited the Utah Valley University LDS Institute Choir to join in a visually and audibly stunning video called " I Will Rise." He was asked by world renown pianist Jon Schmidt and cellist Steven Sharp Nelson ( ThePianoGuys) to help them with a new arrangement of Coldplay's hit "Paradise" they called " Peponi" and was shot in Southern Utah on the precipice of a massive sandstone cliff. This must watch video has had over 9 million viewings on youtube!
He served as an LDS missionary in Bristol, England and at the suggestion of his mission president chose a career in music so that he could influence and inspire people for good. On July 4th he hosted the 2012 Stadium of Fire event in Provo, Utah which was broadcast around the world. He is a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, performed with Glenn Beck in Israel (read the story of how Alex was chosen to close Beck's program) and brought Glenn Beck to tears when Alex sang an unconventional Christmas song of Christ. He recently opened Glenn Beck's Restoring Love event in Dallas Texas where he sang an incredibly energizing rendition of the National Anthem to the awaiting crowd! He also just returned from a trip to Ghana and only days ago released his new music video of his journey into this beautiful African country set to the tune of "The Good Life!"
Alex "loves to laugh" and his energy and enthusiasm for the gospel and his citizenship in his new country are contagious! Some of the highlights of his life include giving a book of Mormon to Prince Charles, joining the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and marrying his beautiful wife Julie.

Educating Your Children
One of the significant comments we keep getting from parents about the book is their delight in having a book for their children that is full of "real" places and artifacts, rather than the usual "make believe" drawings and illustrations of Book of Mormon stories. Parents have said that they feel this provides children with the understanding that the Book of Mormon is a reality rather than a storybook or fiction.

Heartland in the News - NBC Acknowledgement

NBC News recently presented a series of shows on Mormonism called "Mormon in America" (click on part 2) wherein NBC's Brian Williams actually acknowledges the Heartland Model by saying that "There are some key differences...among them, Mormon's believe Jesus visited either North or South America after His death and resurrection." You can find it at minute marker 3:55! The Heartland Model is now getting acknowledgment by the main stream media!

FIRMly Defending the Heartland by Rod L. Meldrum

Recent surveys have provided critical insights into why some former LDS members left the Church. During a lecture at a symposium at Utah Valley University on 3/29/12, John Dehlin, who has a website that encourages disgruntled and former Mormon's to share their thoughts, surveyed some 4,000 ex-Mormons for important information regarding what motivated them to leave the Church. The four highest ranking factors were that they 1. ceased to believe the doctrine/theology, 2. studied Church history and lost belief, 3. lost faith in Joseph Smith, and 4. lost faith in the Book of Mormon. The most interesting thing pertaining to the Heartland Model research is the number one reason for losing faith in the Book of Mormon. What is the #1 reason why these former Church members lost faith in the Book of Mormon? DNA evidence against it!
Some students of the Book of Mormon promoting Mesoamerican theories have claimed that just because it is a fact that DNA research has found no evidence for Semitic peoples among any Central or South American native populations there is still hope for their theories because, they claim, no one should even expect such evidence due to several genetic possibilities of it disappearing. In doing so they either ignore or attempt to negate the many prophecies made by Book of Mormon prophets that there would remain a "remnant of the House of Israel" on the Promised Land in the latter days. The prophecies even go so far as to specify that their "seed shall not utterly be destroyed according to the flesh." (2 Nephi 9:53) Given the size of the Nephite and Lamanite populations in the Book of Mormon and the utter lack of any mention of other peoples mingling with their populations, together with the restrictions placed upon the Nephites not to intermarry with others and the claims of pure descendancy by Mormon (3 Nephi 5:20) near the end of the account, it would be nearly impossible for all genetic evidence to simply disappear.
Is there any DNA evidence that might account for the prophecies and provide supporting witness to the authenticity of the Book of Mormon of a remaining Israelite remnant?
Thankfully, as members of the Church we can now show with confidence that indeed there is genetic evidence that supports exactly what the prophecies have indicated through the centuries, we only need to look for it in the right place, the Heartland of North America! It is time to get this information into the hands of every latter-day saint to arm them for the coming onslaught of media furor over Mormonism's involvement in the U.S. presidential election!
