So many have been asking 'What is the latest with this research?' and 'How is it going?' that I thought it important to put together our first actual newsletter about all the wonderful things happening with this project.  A Heart-felt THANK YOU! First may I just say THANK YOU to express my gratitude for all of you who have helped in so many ways, from locating venues, to posting information, making phone calls, setting up meetings, coming to presentations and sharing this information with your friends and family.
I am simply humbled by the incredible outpouring of friendship and support that has come from so many all over our this country and literally around the world. May you be blessed with the fruits of the spirit as you continue your study of the Book of Mormon, one of the most powerful and sacred books we have the privilege to read, study and ponder. Within its pages are the truths that span the ages and can bring us closer to our Father in Heaven. It is my hope to continue to search for the evidences that most assuredly must be, based on my spiritual knowledge of its truthfulness. As I said in my closing remarks at our recently completed National Conference, I do not need a single solitary shred of physical evidence to know of its validity, but because I know it is a true history spiritually, I also know that there will be...there must be physical evidences for it is an actual book of history, real people, places and events. Thank you for allowing me to share some of my research, thoughts and feelings and for your marvelous support.

Our 4th Semi-Annual National Book of Mormon Prophecies Conference; A CELEBRATION OF THE PROPHET JOSEPH, was held April 1-2, 2010 at the Zermatt Resort and Conference Center in Midway, Utah. By all accounts, it was a great experience.
Distinguished speakers included:
 Elder Hartman Rector Jr, Michael Kennedy, Kimberly Smith and Bryan Davis (all descendants of Joseph Smith), Dr. Robert Fuller (Owner of Zermatt, researcher), Dee Jay Bawden and Jason Millward (LDS sculptors), Keith Johnson (Participant in a voyage similar to Lehi's), Jon McNaughton (LDS painter), Howard Carlos Smith (Joseph Smith sword researcher), Ron L. Andersen (Abraham Lincoln historian), Steven Smoot (Developer and film producer), Doug Brinley (Author and Researcher), Kay Godfrey (Joseph Smith epoch historian), and Rod Meldrum (Author and Researcher). |

 FIRM Foundation Boards and Committees, Invitation for Papers
In the next few weeks we are going to finally complete the organization of the FIRM Foundation and fill the Board and Committee positions. If you would like to be considered for such a position, please send an email with your thoughts about how you might like to serve and in what capacity. Please be sure to include your academic and professional expertise and strengths. We will be looking for help in many areas of expertise and in many locations across the country. All are invited to help, but only a few will be able to participate in the management. We are looking for a few men and women of the highest caliber to help in moving this research forward! If you would like to help, please let us know by emailing your contact information along with your outline of how you'd like to serve to rodneymeldrum@hotmail.com . We anticipate a tremendously powerful organization to come from these appointments. Thank you for your consideration.
As a part of the soon to be completed organization of The FIRM Foundation, we are also going to be accepting papers for review and consideration in posting to a new website for the purpose of providing an open forum for presentation, dissemination, and discussion of research and evidences of the Book of Mormon, shown by correlation through DNA, prophetic, scriptural, historical, archaeological, anthropological, geographical, climatological, social, and cultural evidences within the North American Heartland Model context.
Our goals are:
(1) to utilize the research methods outlined in Prophecies and Promises to increase understanding of the Book of Mormon as an ancient true historical document that took place in the prophesied Promised Land of the United States of America,
(2) to correlate and publish works of LDS scholars and researchers on the Heartland Model and other proposed North American geographies of the Book of Mormon,
(3) to overcome incorrect understandings caused by decades of promotion of Mesoamerica as the primary setting for the Book of Mormon,
(4) to provide well researched and peer reviewed articles, papers, books, films, presentations, and educational opportunities for all those interested in further information by scholars, researchers and students of the Book of Mormon,
(5) to provide a forum where responsible scholars and researchers can present current ideas and discoveries pertaining to North American proposed settings for the Book of Mormon,
(6) to organize, disseminate, conduct and sponsor events such as symposiums, firesides, webinars, and conferences providing educational opportunities for all interested parties, and
(7) provide further on-location educational opportunities through travel and tours to visit these proposed sites in conjunction with Church History and United States history.
