Valentines' Day & St. Patrick's Day Cards Making Cards with Love
Valentine's Day and St Patrick's Day are right around the corner. I find these two occasions to be "just the right size". What do I mean by that? Well, I adore Christmas time, but send out so many Christmas cards that there is simply no way I could hand make every single one of them. But when these "littler occasions" arrive, I'm able to sit back, take my time, and create masterpieces that get sent to just a handful (or two) of our closest family members. Okay, so maybe they aren't masterpieces, but they are made with love and I know they put smiles on the faces of the people who receive them, and that's what matters most. Be Mine Valentine: Start by cutting a 7 " purple heart made from the Designer's Calendar Cricut Cartridge Cut another heart at 7 " to go inside the purple heart, and use a decorative scissors around the edges. Finally, cut some various sized little hearts to go above your love birds and to dot your "I". Switch to the Simply Charmed Cricut Cartridge. Cut two birds at 2 ". (Cut one of them using the Flip feature so they can gaze at each other) Also cut their bellys, beaks, and two wings for each birdy, all at the 2 " size. Add some glitter to their tails, eyes, and wings. You can usea pencil to curl the top wing up a little bit to give it dimension. Cut out the words Be Mine at 2" and be sure to dot your "I" with a heart. To give it a special touch, try punching small holes around the edge of the card, stitch ribbon through it and tie a bow. Lucky (To Have You) Card: Cut a card out of white cardstock 6"wide x 4 " tall. Place a piece of 6"x2"striped paper across the top of the card and place a green ribbon along the edge of your accent paper. Use the Mini Monograms Cricut Cartridge to cut out a scalloped circle 3 ". Place a plain circle inside of that cut at 3 " and add flitter dots around the edge. Next, layer 3 four leaf clovers cut from Designer's Calendar Cricut Cartridge at 2", 1 ", and 1 " in coordinating papers and also embellish the tips of the clover with glitter. Last, use Simply Charmed Cricut Cartridge to cut out the word Lucky at 1 ", adhere to a vellum strip, and attach with a brad. An example of the message inside the card is: "To have you as my friend" or "To have a Grandma like you!"
