The Newport News Green Foundation has been selected as a finalist in the Pepsi Refresh Project.  The proposed project will landscape two parcels of property located at the intersection of Aberthaw Avenue and Jefferson Avenue.  This project has tremendous benefit to the community, particularly with the neighboring nursing home, and has the potential to increase the quality of life for the residents of the facility and all citizen and visitors to Newport News.

 

 

 

Individuals can visit  www.refresheverything.com/green to vote or text* 110300 to Pepsi (73774) to vote from your mobile (*Standard text messaging rates apply).  You can vote once a day for the Green Foundation and have three other votes to cast for other projects.  Vote often!  Voting ends on December 30, 2011, at 11:59 p.m. EST. 

 

 

 

Green spaces provide a wealth of benefits. They make cities more beautiful, create wildlife habitat, protect area waterways from pollution and reduce air and noise pollution. Green space also strengthens the economy by helping to attract businesses and maintain property values, and by making the city safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable.
