San Pancho Music Festival:
The San Pancho Music Festival is in its 11th year.
The Music Festival originated in the backyard of a resident by a group of homegrown musicians, their common interest in music brought foreigner and local musicians together to entertain the village people.
The Music Festival has grown to become an important element in the cultural landscape of Riviera Nayarit
The philosophy of the festival in the past has been to offer some of the regions best local talent, at the same time trying to introduce other acts that might enhance the entertainment level of the show, even if they are outside of the area. We tend to
feature Mexicans first, as there seems to be a number of gringos, that have been quick to step up to the plate to make it a fun weekend.
By the way, the musicians all play for free!! This obviously limits the range of talent that we're able to tap into, and is why it is easier to present local acts.
There is also a tradition of offering spots to some of the locals that have played the festival over the years before bringing people in from outside the area that might not have ties to the area. As a result, the festival is quaint, intimate, and it would seem that people would pretty much like to keep it that way |
