2. Walk or Ride your Bike. Leave your car at home and run local errands by walking or bicycling. If you work locally, walk or ride to work. Remember to walk against traffic on rural roads; use designated crosswalks where avaiable; ride with traffic when cycling. Click here for "Hunterdon County Bike to Work Month" info. |
3. Walk your child to school. If your child's school is within walking distance, plan to get up a few minutes earlier to allow time to walk to school. 4. Share the Road with Cyclists. Support those who choose "pedal power". Share the road with cyclists by leaving at least 3 feet of space when you are passing. |
5. Consider Teleworking. Check with your employer about working from home one day a week. Make sure you have a designated work area, core hours of work, and a clear understanding with your employer of what work is to be completed. |
6. Compress your Workweek. Talk with your employer about working a 4/40 (four ten hour days) or a 9/80 (80 hours in 9 days) schedule. This will reduce your need to commute once a week, or once every other week. |
