RUSH HOUR CONCERT: Friday, March 26th 6:30pm @ VMA, Providence, RI
with members of RIPYO
This concert features members of the
Symphony Orchestra of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestra,
joining the Orchestra members in a side-by-side performance of Suppé's Light
Cavalry Overture. The Orchestra also performs selections from Handel's Water
Music, Schubert's "Unfinished" Symphony and Ginastera's Variaciones concertantes.
Informality is the key to this
series. The concert setting is relaxed with Larry talking about the music as
the concert progresses. At the end of each concert Larry comes back onstage for
a question and answer session with audience members.

It's All About Us
ALL ORCHESTRAL CONCERT Classical Concert: Saturday, March 27th @ 8pm VMA, Providence, RI
Music
Director Larry
Rachleff and the
Orchestra present an All Orchestral Concert featuring "TOP- 40"
CLASSICAL FAVORITES. This concert includes Rossini's The
Barber of Seville Overture, Schubert's Unfinished Symphony, Handel's Water
Music Suite and Ginastera's Variaciones concertantes. Resident Conductor
Francisco Noya presents an informal talk
about the concert program in the auditorium before the concert from 7:00-7:25.
 For Saturday's Concert there is an allotment of TERRIFIC seats available in the Mezzanine. We are also offering $25 tickets in selected areas of the hall. To purchase these special seats please call the box office at 401.248.7000 before Friday at 2pm.
Members of the Philharmonic Youth
Orchestra String Orchestra, under the direction of their conductor, Amy Rawstron, will perform in the mezzanine
lobby before the concert. Ms. Rawstron is the Principal Second Violinist in the
Philharmonic Orchestra.

About Us
The Rhode Island Philharmonic is the only fully integrated professional orchestra and music
school in United States placing it in the unique position of presenting
great music through both our performance and music education programs .
The Orchestra is now in its 65th Season; the 2009-2010 Season is Music

Orchestras Feeding America
The Philharmonic Orchestra & Music
School is very excited to be one of over 200 orchestras
across the country participating in the Orchestras Feeding America program.
The Philharmonic will collect non-perishable food and personal items
before each of our concerts on March 26 and March 27, in the lobby of
the Veterans Memorial Auditorium. In addition, Music School faculty,
staff members and volunteers will collect non-perishable food daily at
the Carter Center, 667 Waterman Avenue, East Providence, from March 1
through March 31, 2010.
The Philharmonic will donate all the food
and personal items we collect to Crossroads Rhode Island. Please bring a food or
personal item donation the next time you join us for a concert or Carter Center activity. Thanks!

Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Ensembles Upcoming Concerts
RIPYO Concert
Sunday, March 28, 3pm
VMA, Providence
The RIPYO Symphony Orchestra
under
the direction
of Alexey Shabalin will perform selected
movements from Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4. The concert will also feature the
Repertory
Orchestra, under the direction of Vincent Mattera, the String
Orchestra under the direction of Amy Rawstron and
the Intermediate
String Ensemble and String Ensemble under the direction of Erin Quinton
Erban.
Tickets
for this concert are $12 for adults and $7 for students and senior
citizens and are available at the door on the day of the performance.
RIPYWE Concert Wednesday March 31, 7pm Sapinsley Hall @ Rhode Island College
The concert
will include the RIPYWE Senior Division under the direction of David
Martins performing Hanover Festival by Philip Sparke, Watchman, Tell Us
of the Night by Mark Camphouse and Four Symphonic Themes by John
Williams. The concert will also feature the RIPYWE Junior Division
under the direction of Marc Blanchette.
Tickets for this
concert are $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens and
will be available in advance at the Philharmonic Box Office

Singer Allison Lonstein, the winner of the
2010 Philharmonic Concerto Competition will also perform on the
program. She is a senior at Westborough High School in Massachusetts, an AP and Honors student, Vice President of the
National Honor Society, Captain of the Girls Varsity Golf Team, a Varsity
Soccer player and an avid skier.

Appilcation are now being accepted for 2010 Summer Workshops. This year we will offer workshops in Chamber Music, Piano, Flute and Jazz, Rock & Blues.
