The next California Basic Multicultural Competence Scale (CBMCS) training will take place on August 12, 13, 26 and 27. Participants must commit to attend all four days. The sessions have been split into two-day blocks to make it easier for attendees to be out of the office.
Initial slots for the training are reserved for those whose agency executives have already been through the program, giving agencies the opportunity to tackle cultural competency at all levels. Those agencies include ACH Child and Family Services, Alliance for Children, Catholic Charities, Fort Worth ISD, Lena Pope Home, MHMR of Tarrant County, Hand in Hand, JPS Health Network, Pecan Valley MHMR, Ruth's Place, Santa Fe Youth Services, Tarrant County Challenge, Tarrant County Juvenile Services, The Parenting Center and The Women's Center. However, if openings are available, the training will be offered to the entire Mental Health Connection membership in mid-July via email.
If the executive of your agency has received CBMCS training and you would like to participate in August, please fill out and mail the registration form, including the demographic information. The fee is $100, which includes lunch each day and the materials. Payment must be made in advance. For more information, contact Lydia Garcia.
