Meetings Move to The Women's Center
Thank you to Tarrant County Juvenile Services
BTG LogoIt is hard to believe that 10 years have passed since Tarrant County Juvenile Services began so generously hosting our monthly membership meetings. Randy Turner and his excellent staff have worked hard to accommodate our meetings, even with ever-growing demands on the training facilities at the detention center. Without doubt, we have benefitted from their long-standing hospitality and generosity.

In the spirit of collaboration, it is now someone else's turn, and we are pleased that The Women's Center has invited us to meet at its new facility during 2010. Because of the high attendance levels, we know that the MHC monthly meetings have provided a valuable forum for this community to share information, network, problem solve and plan. Please join us on January 11 at The Women's Center. We will have the coffee on!!
Bridging the Gap Reports Online
BTG Logo Successful Third Symposium
More than 200 individuals interested in research and transformation within the mental health care system attended the third annual Bridging the Gap Symposium at TCU in early November. Speakers explained the latest research in such areas as psychotropic medications in young children and the effects of trauma on the developing brain. We heard about the effects of poverty on mental health, as well as the scientific method of implementing transformation in a community.

If you were unable to attend the Symposium, you can still review the presentations on the Mental Health Connection Web site.

We look forward to next year's fourth Bridging the Gap Symposium.

DataLink Offers New Reporting Features
 Quick Queries Offer Useful Data
DataLink, the Mental Health Connection online client referral and information sharing system, has added reporting features designed to help agencies find specialized data. A quick query allows users to request reports that can show trends or provide backup information for grant applications. This versatile feature allows subscribers to pull information from any field and any view needed. For example, a quick query can pull all girls seen in a month who live in a specific zip code and have a specified diagnosis.

"This was one of the most common requests we received from our initial participants, and we are very excited to have it in place," said Tamra Walker of Solomon Edwards Group. She added that representatives from each participating agency have been trained to create the reports.

To add your agency to DataLink, contact Tamra by e-mail or call her at 214-850-4473.
Professionals Improve their Cultural Competence
Trainers for more sessions to be selected
Gloria MorrowThirty-six executives and 37 practitioners spent several days in October and November improving their ability to work with clients from all cultures. Training leader Gloria Morrow, Ph.D., will select 10 of the newly trained practitioners to receive additional training so they can pass the techniques along to others.
