IT'S SPRING!!

I was in Florida last week with my husband, and among the things we did was attending a Red Sox spring training game.  It was fun.  And it felt like summer with the ballgame, the hot dog vendors and the temperatures in the 80's.  There was a rain shower before the game and we even saw a rainbow.  We came home and one night last week there was a huge thunderstorm here.  That also reminded me of summer.  The unusually warm weather means we'll be seeing spring flowers soon.

At the Woolery we're seeing spring yarns.
My Classic Elite yarns are in, with new colors in Firefly, Katydid, Sprout, Seedling and Cricket, and new booklets for all of them.

We have a new Noro yarn, called Ayatori, in four spring colors.  It is made in a 60/40 wool/silk blend, in DK weight with great yardage--over 150 yards per ball.

I would like to talk a bit about fixing stitches in your knitting.   Several people have asked me about a new tool on the market that purports to make repairs easier.  I looked at their video online and was amazed to see that it is simply a two-ended crochet hook.  For the price of this tool, I can get several crochet hooks.  Not only that but you still have to manipulate the stitches just as you would with a regular hook.  We all need to learn to "read" our knitting, to see if there is an error and understand the repair.
If you have dropped knit stitches: with the loops of loose yarn behind, simply insert a crochet hook thru the bottom stitch from front to back and draw the yarn through. Repeat this with as many stitches as needed.  For a purl stitch, the loose yarn should be in front of the stitch and you pull it through from the back.  That will put the purl bump on the front of your work.

Maggie Update:

Maggie recently got "fixed".  She came through it fine and didn't seem to need any downtime, though we were told to keep her quiet for a week.  It's hard to keep a Lab pup quiet!  We settled for shorter walks and not letting her play with her best friend Buddy this week.  Maggie will be a year old on Easter, a puppy no longer.
