  A VOLUNTEER'S PERSPECTIVE

Marshall Watermann- Volunteer

Marshall Waterman

Marshall with her

husband Bob.

YMCA: Why do you choose to volunteer for the Northumberland Family YMCA?

Marshall: "Because it is not often that any of us have the opportunity to contribute to an effort that will do so much for so many people in our own community. Volunteering for the Y, alongside so many other dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers, is truly a privilege."

YMCA: What do you see the YMCA accomplishing or providing our community with in 5-10 years down the road?

Marshall: "5-10 years from now I see the YMCA being an integral part of the daily lives of most members of this community, whether for workouts, youth sports, meeting friends, a swim, or summer camp.  I know the parking lot will always be full!"

YMCA: What program does the Y offer that means the most to you?

Marshall: "The part of every Y program that means the very most to me is the teaching of values and the practicing of fundamental Christian principles.  I feel there are few places in today's world where this emphasis exists. I also strongly support the Guardian Program that ensures that no child or family is ever turned away from the Y due to inability to pay."

YMCA: What are you looking forward to with the opening of the new facility?

Marshall:  "Personally, I plan to make good use of the exercise equipment and to join a few aerobic classes.  My grandchildren just can't wait to jump in the pool!"

Marshall has served on both the capital and annual fundraising committees.  For your dedication to children, families and the community...we thank you!

GET INVOLVED IN YOUR NEW Y TODAY!
Sara & Diane
More than 120 individuals volunteered last year at our YMCA.  Pictured above, Sarah & Diane Kelly recognized for their volunteer work in 2010.
The Northumberland Family YMCA is seeking volunteers to help prepare for the Grand Opening of the new facility.  More and more individuals are stopping by the office to join as members and sign up for programs.  Help is needed to answer questions and assist with registrations.  We are also beginning to plan for expanded services.  Help is needed to identify and establish special interest clubs and programs, as well as develop collaborative opportunities with other organizations.  The whole community is buzzing with anticipation and many are eager to become involved!   If you are interested in volunteering, and want to be a part of opening the new Northumberland Family YMCA please come by or call us at 580-8901.
