Hi ,

As we get a little closer to Kick-Off for the beginning of the season I thought it would be wise to send you a few reminder about Law 4 - Players Equipment. By the way, you can find the Laws Of The Game by clicking the link or on the VCYS website on the Referee Page.

SHIN GUARDS
Shin Guards are a mandatory piece of equipment, as are the other four S's shirt, shorts, socks and shoes. Players must wear shin guards or they may not play. Socks are to be worn over the shinguards. It is not acceptable to put on a sock, then put the shin guard over the sock, then roll the sock down. Please tell your players to put the shin guard on first then the sock gets pulled up, over the shin guard.

SOCKS
Socks come in pairs, please note that the "pair" is two socks of the same color. It is not acceptable to wear one color on one leg and a different color on the other leg. I'll bet you are laughing right now but trust me we run it to this every year. The referees will require your players to change, this then delays the game start time and that in turn sets the field scheduling back.

JEWELRY
No jewelry is allowed. As in none, zero, zip, nada. No earrings, even if they were just put in, even if mom or dad said they can't be removed, even if they are covered with flesh colored bandages, even if anything. Sadly, even if little Suzie gets upset and starts crying, this too happens every year. No wrist bands, string bracelets, non-perscription glasses, watches, lucky bracelets, etc.

Specific sport type protective goggle/glasses are acceptable, as are prescription lenses.

Please let us know if you have any questions. Best to find out now rather than on game day!

Have FUN!
