Hi ,
Since today's weather has that desert thunderstorm feeling, this is a good opportunity to remind of our weather policies.
Remember in all of this SAFETY is your primary concern.
GAMES - Soccer games gets played in the rain. I don't
remember, in recent years, canceling any games due to rain.
PRACTICES - If the field is so wet as to cause damage by
practicing/playing on it then DON'T. It can take weeks, maybe months, to repair the damage
from just one practice on a muddy field. Find an alternative. If your players have
shoes other than cleats they can do skills work on the asphalt, or maybe you
just work on fitness.
Also, keep in mind with the district's mandated watering policy the fields will get damaged even easier this year than in the past.
LIGHTNING - NEVER, EVER take to the fields if there
is lightning visible anywhere! Should you see lightning seek safety and shelter immediately. Referees have standing instructions to suspend the game immediately if there is visible lightning.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
See you on the pitch!
