QUICK TIP
You really want to avoid sending the wrong impression at any match. You should be friendly, be respectful, shake hands of course and be approachable but avoid other physical contact with coaches and players.
Some referees put their arms around a coach or a player's shoulder that they might have a long time good relationship with. Don't do it, even if they are your relative - maybe especially if they are your relative.
You do not want to send the wrong message to the other team. Yes, you should assume the other team's parents, coaching staff and players are watching you on the field. The perception will be that you already favor the team you are friendly with; an impossible position to recover from.
Second, we do not want players or coaches touching us when they are mad or upset. By opening the door before the match even starts you may be inviting trouble later on.
Let me know if you have any questions!
See you all on the pitch!
