Hi ,
We have a number of administrative items to take care of
before the season starts. These things all need to be in place before you have
your players on the field, or gathered for any reason (practices, parties,
games, tourneys, etc).
1. Player cards - are available to be
printed. There are still two teams who have not requested cards. Gary has let
me know his plans. Dave - what are you doing? Your current set of cards expire
tomorrow night; you cannot use them for play after that. To get cards, send me
your complete roster, including administrators. Allow plenty of time to get
them turned around. If I'm not available to make your cards, you will be out of
luck until I can,
2. Admin forms - we must have an admin form
on file for every adult who will be interacting with your players in any
capacity. There is no leeway or flexibility in this requirement. The only
people who do not have to provide a form are those who are sideline spectators
and do not interact with players,
3. Risk management - ALL administrators must
be risk managed. No adult may be around players in any capacity beyond as a
spectator unless they have an approved risk management status on file.
Spectators do not give any instruction, direction, suggestion, or other
commentary to players. If you have any question about CalSouth's interpretation
of this requirement, please contact me. You are the first in line for the
lawsuit,
4. Coach licensing - anyone working with the (competitive)
players on the field must have a minimum of an "E" level soccer coaching
license. Team parents and team managers do not need licenses, but they are not
allowed on the field. They may not instruct the players in any way. We have one
approved trainer in the league who has other acceptable licensing and
certifications that allow him to work with players in a limited capacity. There
are no other adults who may work with players in any field or training capacity
without a valid license on file. Failure to comply with this requirement is a
direct violation of CalSouth and VCYS's stated policy and constitutes gross
negligence on your part,
5. Schedules - Presidio schedules are
getting closer to being finalized. We have a set of games still in play;
hopefully they're the last ones. Presidio has extended the deadline for free
reschedules. If you have any hopes of changes, it's now or never. There will be
another email following with schedules and instructions attached.
It is imperative that every administrator on every team read
and understand this email. Coaches - your responsibility to make sure it
happens. Please read carefully and make sure you've completed all items. If you
don't understand something, call me so we can get it cleared up. As always,
keep an eye on the Presidio site for announcements, information, and deadlines.
For those of you who are skirting the rules and have
unlicensed, unregistered, and uncleared adults work with the kids - fix it now
before it comes back to bite you. You are responsible for running your team
within the requirements of this league. You're welcome to do it differently -
ELSEWHERE. If you want to have a Hurricanes team, you must comply with all VCYS
and CalSouth rules, no selective compliance. You are personally taking on
astronomical liability. It's your choice if you want to risk everything you've
worked hard to build in your life, just do it somewhere else. It's
unconscionable to play craps with our kids, and with the league as a whole.
That said - I really do love you J and sincerely appreciate the opportunity you're giving the
kids. Thanks for helping get the Hurricanes house in order.
AND - even though I love you, and even though I trust you,
please reply to this email so I know you have received, understood, and
complied. Don't make me hunt you down. You must acknowledge this email to
remain on the roster.
