Referee Banner

Now that you have your badge I think I'll explain what the San Diego Soccer Referee Association is and why you should make sure you are a member.

Your affiliation with USSF, note that is where your badge comes from, says to others that you are knowledgeable about the game, have been trained to officiate and have passed a difficult exam.

Belonging to the association GETS YOU WORK and makes you a better referee as time goes along.

SDSRA is likely, in my never humble opinion, an association of some of the best referee talent you are going to come across, and some of the best mentors to the new referee. There are too many talented and highly ranked folks in our group to list them.

Annual Membership is $25 for adults and $10 if you are under 16 as of August.

Here's what you get for your dues:

1) A centralized place to receive and request assignments

2) Negotiated fees, typically we are paid as much as, maybe more than, anyone else in the county, with NO assignment fee. Typically an assignor will get a flat fee or a percentage of your game fee. SDSRA does not.

3) An assignor who knows your capabilities and will do what is best for you AND the game

4) The opportunity to work with lots of fantastic high grade referees and gain their knowledge. These are experienced referees who will give you all the feedback you want!

5) Monthly meetings with continuing education, usually presented by Bob Petterson, he is without question a special brand of entertainment.

6) The opportunity to buy Official Sports equipment at many of the meetings from Kelly Mock.

7) Prize drawings (if you are a paid member) for $25 + $25 +50 in equipment with Kelly.

8) People you can call and talk to when you are trying to work through game issues or problems

9) Membership in one of the most respected associations in all of Southern California for the quality of the officials it produces and sends to the fields.

The meetings are the third Thursday of each month at the Rancho Bernardo Community Park. These are SHORT meetings starting at 6:45pm and ending before 8:00pm.

The website is http://www.sdsrarefs.com/. On it you will find
1) Field Directions,
2) Calendar of events,
3) Availability (more on this in a minute ),
4) Fee Schedules,
5) Membership Form,
6) Meeting information and
7) a list of contacts.

3) Availability - Is the MOST important page of all - this is WHERE YOU GET WORK. Check it often and complete the forms as soon as you can.

Leanne or Mike Malik are making assignments often weeks before the actual tournament or scheduled games.

DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE

So now that you know all of this why are you waiting? Complete the SDSRA Membership Form and send it in with your dues if haven't already! Better yet, attend the meetings and just hand it in to Pat Novak.

Please let me know if you have any questions. This is something you not only want to do but NEED to do for the good of your development!

See you all on the pitch!
