What is "By The People" Lobby Day?

The American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia (ACLU of Georgia), for the seventh year, is offering lobby training to individuals and other progressive groups each Tuesday during the legislative session.  Training will include:

  •  How to talk to legislators
  • What are the "hot" issues and why you should care
  • How best to help push or stop legislation
  • Legislative updates given by progressive organizations such as Georgia Rural Urban Summit (GRUS)
  • A Walking tour of the Capitol's lobbying area and introduction to the legislative process
  • Assistance in meeting your senator and representative

Why Lobby?

You can make a difference.  Legislators value informed and thoughtful input from their constituents.   A rule of thumb used by many legislators is that communication from one person in their community reflects similar views of 500 others in their community who did not take the time to communicate.
